Winter's Down South:Something to Behold

Guest post written by Bob Chigna

I'm not going to lie, moving down south, after living way north most of my life is still a little odd, especially this time of year. By now, my yard was usually filled with at least 2-3 inches of snow, and my car buried in at least that much or more. And now, in Florida? You wouldn't believe it, clear skies, sandy ground and 71 degrees??

But I guess that's kinda the point of being a snowbird, isn't it? The benefit, though, is that I get to enjoy my place and my yard a little longer. Up north, you pretty much had to stay inside if you expected to stay warm. Here? I can easily do whatever I want, whether it's make a quick trip to the grocery store or simply walk out to the mailbox, without the slightest discomfort. I keep telling my brother, who still lives up there, that the warm-winter-south thing is totally true. And now that I've got this time, I'm thinking of reworking a few things around the house as it stays nice out. I'll have to find a little MORE INFO on it before committing, but sounds like now's a good a time as any!

As a former Wisconsonian who is now a Texan I enjoy looking at the pictures of the northern winter wonderland but do appreciate the 70's we are still enjoying. If I could order up snow for just a day.

I have lived all over, including upstate NY and Alaska. I like a tiny bit of snow around Christmas, but generally hate the cold. However, I also hate being really hot so the deep south isn't for me. I now live in KY and I have found it to be a nice balance. It is colder this year than usual- thanks a lot Greenland- but, before the cold snap we were having days in the 60's and 70's. So nice!
