Review of Lilly's Wedding Quilt by Kelly Long

I received a copy of this book, Lilly's Wedding Quilt, from Booksneeze for review. I normally do not read Amish books because they seem to be similar in a lot of ways and the plots end up being quite alike. So I was hesitant to read this one but at the same time, excited! I have heard a lot of good things about author Kelly Long and so I thought I would give it a try.

She isn't looking for love. He's mending a broken heart. It will take divine intervention for these two to get together.

Local Amish schoolteacher Lilly Lapp is tired of weddings, afraid of horses, and immersed in caring for her depressed mother. But when Jacob Wyse, a handsome horse breeder from her small community rescues her from a dangerous accident, Lilly discovers a renewed interest in life and the possibility of love.

Yet Jacob has lost the one true love of his life to another man and doesn't care to expose himself to the vulnerabilities of loving again.

God works to bring this unlikely pair into a sweet romance to produce a pattern of faith, which leads to the creation and comfort of Lilly's Wedding Quilt.

MY REVIEW-Let me start off by saying, WOW!! I loved this book!! I am sooo glad I went against my standard of not reading Amish books and tried this one out. To start off, the writing style is great! Kelly does a wonderful job pulling you into the story from the beginning and I read this book in two days. I actually would have finished it in one but I got busy, stayed up late as it was, and had to finish it the next day. With this author's writing you feel like you are right there. You feel Lilly's hesitation as to whether she is following the Lord's leading or her own feelings. I also want to find out what happens in the life of Seth(Jacob's brother) and Alice. Alice really clicked with me and I liked her a lot. Of course, so did Seth:)

I feel like this author really puts a lot into her writing(not that other authors don't) and I just really loved this book. And they always say the first paragraph tells a lot, well this one starts out with a bang! One of my favorite parts is when her mother talks to her, through her journal, about how she felt when Lilly was a baby. This brought tears to my eyes. As did when Lilly keeps telling Jacob to trust her. That part was wonderful:) Not going into detail as you will have to read the book yourself but I just had to put that in there. And another thing I really liked was Lilly's idea about second hand scraps. No we don't want to be second hand pieces throughout life, but we can be used and put to work to make a beautiful quilt of life.

Overall Kelly did a great job in writing this book and my only objection is, why isn't the next book published yet? LOL! Thank you Kelly for a wonderful book and showing me I don't have to dislike all Amish novels:)

I received a copy of this book through Booksneeze for review purposes. I did not receive any monetary compensation. All thoughts are 100% mine.

I haven't read any books with an Amish premise yet, but have some on my list. Thanks for the review.
