The Fine Art of Insincerity By Angela Hunt Blog Tour

I was recently able to review a book I was overjoyed to read! Angela Hunt's book, The Fine Art of Insincerity, has just been published and released in May. I have only read one of Angela's previous books and I wasn't quite sure what to expect. I have heard a lot of good things about her though:) So let me tell you some about the book and then I will let you know my thoughts about it.

The Fine Art of Insincerity features three Southern sisters with ten marriages between them and more looming on the horizon. It takes a "girls only" weekend spent closing up Grandma's treasured beach house for the sisters to really unpack their family baggage, examine their relationship DNA, and discover the true legacy their much-marrying grandmother left behind.

I have to tell you, this book was a wonderful story! I will definitely be looking for more books by Angela if they are anything like this one!! I have never read a book about just plain ole life that kept me glued to the pages like I felt while reading this book! A delightful, insightful novel.

I really liked the character of Ginger. I guess because I was the oldest I felt her thoughts and feelings. How she wanted to take care of the rest of her siblings and be in charge. I have a much better relationship with my siblings but I realized her need. It was all she had known when she was younger and she had to act as the mother of the other two. I didn't really care for Rose. Maybe because I don't think anyone who is loved, has family and friends, should ever feel like they can take their life. I realize she had a tragedy(I won't talk about it as it will give something away) but it seemed like she had lost all hope, even though her husband loved her. And Penny I liked as well. She seemed to want more from life but didn't know where to find it. She was searching for it in her relationships but it wasn't there.

I was waiting with bated breath to see how this ended. The book wrapped up a little bit different than I thought it would. Not that it was bad, but it was different than I thought. You see the joys, the memories and the sorrows they went through. It was quite a change of pace from the normal Christian fiction book I read. Refreshing and delightful!!

I received a copy of this book for review purposes. I did not receive any monetary compensation. All thoughts are 100% mine.

I love Angie's books too.

You might find there's a lot more out there that are not the "normal Christian fiction book.

Try Nancy Rue (Healing Stones, Healing Waters, Healing Sands, Reluctant Prophet) or anything at all by Lisa Samson. Francine Rivers The Last Sin-Eater.

Get way out there and read some Ted Dekker, or Bill Myers adult fiction. or Alton Gansky, or Randy Alcorn. Kathryn Mackel's Birthright series.

Okay whooops getting down off my soapbox now :)

I also have all of Angie's books, love them and have been a fan for many years!

I have made it a practice to read authors who share in Women of Faith Fiction. I have not been disappointed.

I always look forward to Angela Hunt new releases!

Accidental Poet, I have actually read some of Alton Gansky's works and a few of Bill Meyers:) I love them! But this one was just really different, in a good way obviously. I will definitely have to pick up a couple of Angela's other books though!! Putting them on my wish list on PBS:D

Thanks G. for your thoughts as well. I have read many of Karen Kingsbury's books, and I know some of hers were in the Women of Faith Fiction. I will have to see what other ones are in there as well.

I don't think I've read any of Angela's books! How I missed doing that I have NO idea. Do you think she writes along the lines of some of Karen Kingsbury's books?

Anne,
I think it is somewhat along the same line but there is more Christianity in Karen's books. This one did not have a great amount of Christianity, which kind of upset me. I thought the end would have been different in that aspect. Not saying it was a horrible book, I liked it overall, but just to let you know:)
