Beamz Player Music Instrument Review

I received a really neat product in the mail the other day for review. Have you ever heard of a Beamz Player? I had never before heard of this item. Then the rep contacted me who works with them and sent me the press kit. When I saw what it was, I was really excited about it! First, let me explain what this item is, and then I will tell you my thoughts on it.

This is a big item called a Beamz Player. You basically make music by playing the lights. Yep, you heard it right:) I had the same reaction when I first saw it. You do what? That was what I said. But, once I read the press release, I really wanted to try it out. When I took it out of the box, it looks kind of like a field goal. Smaller obviously, but the shape reminds me of that. You download the software to your computer, I used my laptop, and then plug it in to your USB outlet. Then you play the beams of light coming out of the ends. Take a look at the pictures and see if you get my meaning.

Now, I have never used one of these before, obviously, so everything was from reading the directions. It was easy to download and only took a couple minutes. You do have to install the software and then download the songs as well. It comes with a certain amount of songs and then you can purchase more for a minimal price from the store. But we went with what was on the player already. After installing the software needed, I set up the outfit on the floor. It says to be careful with it being on a stable ground and not being moved around a lot. So I would use caution with little children around it. It took me a couple minutes to get used to it. At first I couldn't get it to play but then figured out how it worked. When you pull up the tab on the computer it shows a picture of the player. There is a tab where you can pull-down a list of songs. I have to say, I didn't really like the small amount of children's songs. Many of them are country or rock. I much prefer ones the kids can play. There are a couple classical ones, which we really enjoyed playing with the orchestra one:)

The Beamz Player is a really neat product and I think someone who plays guitar would absolutely love it. It was a little odd playing without touching strings at all. I play violin and a little bit of piano so it was not that odd, but it was different. You are used to touching things to make noise, not just touching air:) If you are purchasing this for a child, I would definitely puchase some of the other children's songs. You can also plug in ear plugs or headphones so you can play it without bothering the people around you.

This would make a great gift for someone who likes this type of thing. I liked it, but not sure I would have paid the price they are going for. But for someone who likes to play guitar, etc, it would be great!

I received a product for review purposes. I did not receive any monetary compensation. All thoughts are 100% mine.

An Ideal US Family Getaway!

I am here today to talk about another Social Moms opportunity. They always have such great ones and I love them! It also makes me look at some things and have different things to write about, other than reviews and giveaways:)

Anyways, this time around I have to tell you about a great US family getaway. You know, the place we always wanted to go to as a family, what we want to do, etc. We have been blessed to be able to travel a lot and see a lot of the sights. Whether monuments, state parks, battlefields, etc, we have been to a lot! So I am going to more give you some tips on how to make it a great getaway and then tell you a couple spots we like to go for a great US getaway!

1.Plan Your Trip.
Sure you know where you want to go, but do you know how and where, how long it will take and where you are going to stop? Take the time to search online, read reviews and make your plans. It always helps in the long run!

2.Take Snacks.
We have a large family, so if we buy a snack for everyone at the gas station we stop at along the way, we will spend lots of money! So we always pack a cooler and take ziploc bags of snacks. Throw in some drinks, peanuts, crackers, fruit, etc and it really makes a difference. I don't know how much it has saved us but when you look at even a $1 bag of snacks for each person and a drink, that gets expensive:)

3.Bring Plenty of Pillows and Blankets.
Even if we are staying in a hotel, we bring pillows and blankets. For one, traveling in the vehicle gets pretty tiring at times, so it is nice to relax and snooze with a pillow. But we also have found that sometimes it is hard to use other pillows. We get used to our own and their strength or softness and we end up in a hotel room with something totally different than what we are used to. Not conducive to sleeping well.

4.Store up Those Toys and Books.
Bring plenty of coloring books, activities, toys, etc. On long trips kids get bored and then they get cranky. Make sure this doesn't happen by bringing things to entertain them. Sometimes it is a DVD while other times it is a book, but make sure to bring them!

So, there are some tips and below are some of our favorite places to go for a great getaway. They are family friendly and we love visiting these places.

5.The Grand Canyon
This was a beautiful place that we loved going to. The sings are very nice and there is a lot to see. I do have to say, if you have little children, it is a long time in the vehicle or to walk.

6.Chicago, IL
This is one of our favorite places to go. There is so much to do and lots of places to see:) Whether museums, parks or touring the city, there is a lot to do. The prices are a little higher and some of the places you have to make sure they are open. They have many museums including Field Museum, Navy Pier, etc.

One place I have always wanted to go is Colorado. Not during the winter time with all the snow but it would be a great place to visit. It seems like a wonderful place to go and with children there is definitely lots to see. I have had friends bring up skiing and I would love to try it. Sounds like fun but not sure about the snow and the dangers of having two feet going two different ways:) What are your thoughts? Have you ever went skiing?
I have also heard they have nice resorts out there. I have never been to a resort or lodge and this would make a great getaway for me! It is out in the mountains, beautiful scenery and sooo much to do! I think this would be my favorite place to go that I have not been to yet and is in the US.

So, there are some of my tips. I am sure you have plenty more and I probably missed some of the big ones, but these have really helped in our family and it makes for a great US getaway! Also leave a comment with your favorite spot to getaway with the family!

Fatal Judgment by Irene Hannon Blog Tour

Today I also have a blog tour with Fatal Judgment from Irene Hannon. This is the first book in her new series, Guardians of Justice. Now, I have read all her other books and enjoyed them. So I was excited to see what Irene brought us in this new series. Read below to see my thoughts.
U.S. Marshal Jake Taylor has seen plenty of action during his years in law enforcement. But he'd rather go back to Iraq than face his next assignment: protection detail for federal judge Liz Michaels. His feelings toward Liz haven't warmed in the five years since she lost her husband--and Jake's best friend--to possible suicide. How can Jake be expected to care for the coldhearted workaholic who drove his friend to despair?

As the danger mounts and Jake gets to know Liz better, his feelings slowly start to change. When it becomes clear that an unknown enemy may want her dead, the stakes are raised. Because now both her life--and his heart--are in mortal danger.

MY THOUGHTS-I started this really excited. Like I said above, I enjoyed her other Heroes of Quantico series. This one is about a US Marshall and I don't think I have ever read any other books about US Marshall's. I have to say, I was kind of disappointed in this book though. The plot seems to be kind of the same as another one of her books and there were a couple statements I did not care for. It seemed more like a romance with some of the statements. I don't really care for some terms that were used. I did enjoy that some of the guys from the Quantico series showed up in this book. Nick and Mark both were in here. And the play on words one time was really funny:) I would probably get the next book in the series so I could see what happens to the rest of the group, but I don't know if I would keep the series. I guess this was kind of a letdown with the plot being somewhat the same and the couple terms I didn't like. But I am a big fan of her Heroes of Quantico series! Loved those!

Dave's New York Website

With the weather being the way it is outside, many people are bundling up. And for most guys, they like to look good when they bundle up. So, I was kind of excited to find this site, Dave's New York. They sell all types of clothing but some include Carhartt Outerwear and Timberland Pro.

There are many types of jackets and they have some neat ones! Personally I like the military coats:) I guess there is nothing like a man in a military uniform. Anyways, if you are searching for that certain jacket for your man, check out Dave's New York! They have good prices and lots to browse through. Take a look!

Lipo in a Box Camisole Review

I I am a big fan of camisoles. With the blouses I wear, I normally wear a t-shirt underneath, partly for modesty's sake and partly because of the fashion of layering. Layering is a big thing right now and it is something I have done for a while. Now fashion is coming into style:) I just had it first! Just kidding, but really, I almost always wear them under my shirts. I have had two problems though in wearing t-shirts. One is that it gets hot during the summer. And the second thing is it adds bulk. But, I don't have to fear either of these any more! Not since I received this new product in the mail from Lipo in a Box! Now guys, you may not want to continue reading as this deals with a ladies item. Nothing adult but it is definitely ladies:)

I received the Black Camisole from Lipo in a Box. They carry lots of shapewear and I loved shopping through their store. I was able to pick something out from their store and because of the things I talked about above, I wanted to try out the camisole and see how it worked. Now, I had one problem with it, but I will talk about that after I tell you the things I liked about it, which far outweigh the bad.

The camisole came in a nice little package. I can put it back in here and it stays in good condition. When I first tried it on, right after it came in:) I liked how it fit. Not too tight but not loose. It is snug and pulls in at all the right spots. It is long enough that I could almost wear it as a short dress. I like that it is long though because I don't have to worry about it pulling up. The material is nice and breathable. I know, I know, you are saying, how does material breathe? But it does! I don't get hot or cold while wearing this! Works great! The bra part is the right size and I like the straps. They are nice and big. I have another shapewear piece that the straps are real thin. I love the size of these ones! I also washed this once and I was really impressed. Many of these types of garments tend to shrink or tear after being washed. Not with this one! It came back a little small but quickly stretched back to it's normal size.

The only thing I do not like about it is that it tends to pull up. Because there is nothing to keep it down, it comes up. I have a tight shaper for the bottom which helps greatly with this, but without it, I have problems keeping it where it belongs. Like I said, this is very small but it was enough I thought I would mention it. If you purchase this, then you need something tight enough to keep it from rolling up at the bottom.

Overall though I really liked this product and would love to try out some of the other items in their store. Judging by the quality of this camisole, they would be well worth the price.

I received product for review purposes. I did not receive any monetary compensation. All thoughts are 100% mine.

The Search by Suzanne Woods Fisher Blog Tour with Contest!

Today I have a book tour for The Search by Suzanne Woods Fisher. There is also a contest so read through the details.

I have always enjoyed reading different books and seeing how different cultures live. But I have found out recently that I am not a big fan of the Amish books. It is just me, but I have a hard time reading them. Many seem to have the same plots and there's always something I don't care for. This book, The Search, was pretty good. It was different than most Amish books but there were a couple statements I did not care for. One had to deal with a ladies chest. I just don't like that type of thing in my books. But the plot was a little different. I have not read the first two books in this series and I wish I had as it would have helped put everybody in place. Overall, I liked the book. Refreshing and different.

Love in Amish Country
A touching tale of secrets and young love in the Amish community,
from the series that Romantic Times has called “refreshing.”
Bestselling author Suzanne Woods Fisher has written extensively about the Amish, releasing both fiction and non-fiction books that have won the hearts of reviewers in both in and out of the Amish community. Now comes The Search, Fisher’s latest fiction novel in the Lancaster County Secrets series.
Fifteen years ago, Lainey O'Toole made a split-second decision. She couldn't have known that her choice would impact so many. Now in her mid-twenties, she is poised to go to culinary school when her car breaks down in Stoney Ridge, the very Amish town in which her long-reaching decision was made, forcing her to face the shadowed past.
Bess Reihl is less than thrilled to be spending the summer at Rose Hill Farm with her large and intimidating grandmother, Bertha. It quickly becomes clear that she is there to work the farm—and work hard. The labor is made slightly more tolerable by the time it affords Bess to spend with the handsome hired hand, Billy Lapp. But he only has eyes for a flirty and curvaceous older girl.
Lainey's and Bess's worlds are about to collide and the secrets that come to light will shock them both.
Beautifully written, The Search is a skillfully woven story that takes readers through unexpected twists and turns on the long country road toward truth. Fans both old and new will find themselves immersed in this heartwarming—and surprising—tale of young love, forgiveness, and coming to grips with the past.

Suzanne Woods Fisher is the CBA bestselling author of The Choice, The Waiting, Amish Peace, and Amish Proverbs. Her interest in the Anabaptist cultures can be directly traced to her grandfather, W. D. Benedict, who was raised in the Old Order German Baptist Brethren Church in Franklin County, Pennsylvania. Benedict eventually became publisher of Christianity Today magazine. Suzanne is the host of a radio show called Amish Wisdom and her work has appeared in many magazines. She lives in California.

Revell, a division of Baker Publishing Group, offers practical books that bring the Christian faith to everyday life. They publish resources from a variety of well-known brands and authors, including their partnership with MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) and Hungry Planet.

Now, read here for the contest. There is going to be an iPad given away and many other prizes. This is not on my blog, this is sponsored by Suzanne and you have to follow her directions.

Today I have an author that is well known. I am sure you have read at least one of her books before:) Wanda Brunstetter is a famous author who has lots of books out there! I was able to receive two of her newest books for review and I also have the privilege of giving copies of the same books away to 2 winners!! So, two of you will be receiving one book. The first winner chosen will get her choice first and the second winner will get the other book. I am reading these books right now and I think you will really enjoy them. So, read through the interview and then get on to the giveaway:)
Thank you for being with us today, Wanda!!!

How long have you know you wanted to be an author?

I first knew I wanted to be an author when I was in second grade and wrote a poem about a moth. My teacher told me that I had a gift for writing, and with her encouragement I began to write and read as much as I could.
Can you tell me a little bit about your newest book?

My most recent book was released on Dec. 1st. I write mostly Amish novels, but this one is a historical fiction novel called Sarah's Choice, and it's set on the Lehigh Canal in Pennsylvania. Since my husband grew up near there, it was fun for me to visit the Lehigh Canal as I did my research. Sarah's Choice, which is Book 3 in my Brides of Lehigh Canal series, is about a young widow with three small children. Sarah is looking for the opportunity to get away from her job as locktender and find a safer place for her children to grow up. She's offered that chance when the blacksmith from the nearby town of Walnutport asks her to marry him, but a boatman also asks for Sarah's hand in marriage, making it difficult for her to choose.

When a reader gets done with your book, what do you want them to come away with?

Although I do write some historical fiction, most of the books I write are about the Amish, so I hope with my Amish novels that my readers will take away some information about the Amish way of life that they didn't know before. I also hope they will learn something from the experience of the characters in my stories.

Who was your favorite character in this book?

In Sarah's Choice my favorite character is Sarah, who with a determination to care for her children, took on the job of a man in order to provide for their needs.

What book did you last read that really made an impact on you?

The Doctor in Petticoats by Mary Conneally. It's not only filled with Mary's witty humor, but has a meaningful message.

(I am reading this book too and it is a funny read:)

If you were relaxing, what 2 things would you have with you?

My husband, because it's always more fun for me to relax when he's with me, and a glass of iced tea with a slice of lemon, my favorite refreshing drink, which I enjoy any time of the year.

Do you have any suggestions for the aspiring writer?

Whatever subject you choose to write about, be sure you know your subject very well. I spent many years getting to know the Amish personally before I decided to write about them. Even with my historical stories, I always spend several days in the area I'm writing about and learn as much as I can about the period of time, setting, etc. for each of my stories.

Any last thoughts for your readers?

The characters in my stories become real to me as I'm writing the books, and I hope when my readers read them that they'll become real to them, too. I also hope that by the time they reach the end of one of my stories they will feel that they have taken away something lasting.

And how can they connect with you?

You can learn more about me and my books by visiting my website: www.wandabrunstetter.com. You can also join my Wanda E. Brunstetter reader fan page on Facebook.

Readers, one of you will be winning Sarah's Choice and one of you will win Lydia's Charm. First winner gets choice and second winner gets the other book.

Simple Changes for the Year Ahead.

Well, SocialMoms has been absent for a while, but they have come back and this time it is a very interesting post. I get to tell you all about little changes I want to make for the New Year to make it better, healthier and simpler. You know how it is, the New Year is a time to look back at what we did last year and make plans to have a better year this time around. Not in so many words, but we all do this type of thinking. And it is a good time for it. We have a whole year ahead of us. So, I am going to tell you 5 of the changes I am going to make and let me know in the comments what changes you are making.

1.Eat Better.
This is probably a big one for many of us and I am one of them:) I am not a person who pigs out on junk food. But I could definitely do better than I did last year. Get more whole grain breads and pasta, raw foods, etc. This will help in the long run and I will feel better having changed my eating.

2.Lose Weight.
Again, this is a big change we all want and I am really hoping to lose some weight this year. Not a lot, but enough to make a difference. I will be exercising more and making it more a part of my schedule. Too many times we go for the easy way out but if we would just take those stairs at the mall, park out a ways in the parking lot, etc, we might see some good results.

3.Take More Time To Read.
I already do a lot of reading. But I want to get more into reading things that will benefit me and not just something to read. So I might just be stopping by the library(Or walking to the library:) and picking up some good books to read.

4.Spend More Time with the Family.
So many times we just go our different ways doing things and part of the time that is going to happen. But I want to go out of my way to spend more time with them. Play with the girls, read with the family, etc. It is going to be worth it and we will get closer as a family.

5.Cut Back on Spending.
This will kind of run into saving and all but I am really working on cutting back on expenses. Those little stops at Starbucks, the soda at the checkout counter, or the books I purchase. I want to put back the money I would normally spend on these things and maybe put it in savings. Just think of the amounts of money we could be saving!

So, I told you a little bit about how I am going to change some things in this new year, why don't you tell me about yours? Leave a comment below and let me know what simple things you will be changing:) Or if you have a tip for me on one of my changes.

I wrote this blog post while participating in the SocialMoms and Simply Orange® blogging program. If I am one of the first 65 blogs received by SocialsMoms, I will receive a $25 Target gift card and a gift pack that includes a Simply Orange® cooler bag and logoed fleece.

Pedia-Lax Fiber Gummies Review and Giveaway

Today I am introducing a product great for children. I got a package in with several products and I will slowly be featuring them on my blog this week. But today's is called Pedia-Lax Fiber Gummies. I wasn't sure how the children would take these at first. Sure they are gummy but if they know it is good for them, then they normally could care less if it tasted good or not:) So, I will tell you how they liked them below, after I give you some information about the products themselves.

Introduced in 2009, Pedia-Lax® Fiber Gummies, are a daily fiber supplement made just for kids by Fleet®, a trusted brand for digestive health for more than 100 years. So many kids lack the proper amount of fiber in their diets, but wrinkle their little noses at the kinds of foods that will add it in (my kids love to say “Mom, I don’t WANT brown bread!”). Pedia-Lax Fiber Gummies are a great, tasty and sugar-free way to get some much-needed fiber into your little ones’ diets.

More product information:

In 2009 the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) significantly increased the recommended daily fiber intake standards, far above the previous "age plus five" rule. In fact, today's updated guidelines recommend 25 grams of fiber per day for four-year-old children. But how do we meet these requirements and get our children to eat high in fiber foods?

Now there's a delicious daily fiber supplement to help kids ages 2-11 maintain better digestive health and stay regular.* The penguin-shaped, great tasting Pedia-Lax Fiber Gummies are sugar-free, calorie-free, gluten-free and made with natural fruit flavors. With a recommended serving of three gummies every day, (equal to ½ cup of broccoli!), Fiber Gummies are a great way to supplement the fiber found in fruits, vegetables and other fiber-rich foods in your child’s daily diet. It’s a great solution to help bridge the gap between the American Academy of Pediatrics recommended amount of fiber and the fiber that kids actually consume in their daily diet.

So, see how good these are for your children? They are reasonably priced as well and found at several stores.

Now, to tell you how the children liked them? Well, I have had to take the bottle away as they would eat more than they should? They keep asking for more? Does that give you any idea of how much they like them! They love these! The daily amount is one gummy three times a day with meals. So they have them at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Needless to say, they all want more than just three a day. They like all the flavors and the gummy bears go fast. Our bottle is gone within a month. Definitely child approved!!

So, sound like something you want to try out for your children? Read below for directions on how to enter for your own bottle of Pedi-Lax Fiber Gummies.

But first! I wanted to tell you about a contest that is being held by Pedia-Lax. There will be four winners and these are some really neat prizes! The contest started the 17th and ends March 27th. Please make sure to go over to the Pedia-Lax website and check out the promotion!

But, you will have your chance today at winning a bottle of these wonderful gummies! You MUST leave an email in your first comment so I can email you if you are the winner.

Kinkast iPod App Review

I don't know about you, but I think iPods are pretty neat. They have many of the same abilities that a phone does, as well as a computer! If you haven't checked out these really nifty items, I suggest you do:)

So, I bring this up because I was recently able to try out a fun App for the iPod. It is called Kinkast and is for taking and sending videos very easily! I had to download it and I was ready to go. Get this, I was able to take a video and then send it to family members. They then received an email saying, "Here's a new video on Kinkast." Now, I like that these are saved in a library on Kinkast. I can click through the link and watch the video and they are saved in a library. And, they do not need a login or to register to be able to watch the videos! That is a big plus to me. With most libraries, you have to register to be able to view things. Not with Kinkast!

On the iPod the videos are saved in a Kinkast folder and then you can go into the library and sort by date. It is very easy to take a video and to send it. You can also clip it if you want to only send a part of the video you took. Overall, I really like this App. You must have an iPod or iPad that takes video. You can't just download the App and take video. You have to already be able to take video. So, make sure you go over to Kinkast and check out the 60 second tour. This was very neat and I will use this in the future.

By posting about this App and trying it, I was compensated for my review. Sponsored post by Zooka. The App is totally free though. All thoughts are 100% mine.

Ottilie & Lulu Party!

Do you all remember the post I did about the party sponsored by Mommy Parties? We had some real fun and the kids enjoyed the games. This time I was able to do a party with Ottilie and Lulu. I am sure you are thinking, what is this? Well, I will tell you and you will see the pictures of our fun time along with a small video at the end.

Ottilie and Lulu is a company that caters to tweens. I don't know about you, but too often our children want to use our bath products. Well, no more do you have to share! That is what this company is all about! They are for tweens who want to take care of their bodies and feel good at the same time:)

I received a package full of items for this party. Tons of bath stuff and little bags that we made into little packs. They turned out very nicely, if I do say so myself. Anyways, we put these together and everyone watched the little video by the founder of Ottilie and Lulu.

Then we got out the packs and everyone went through them and we talked about each product and how it was to be used. The girls were overjoyed about these!

And we had a little time of testing them out and seeing how the lotions smelled and all. We didn't all take baths though:)

Here is one of the testers who tells a little bit about her experience with Ottilie and Lulu. As you can tell though, she keeps getting the name mixed up;P

For some reason we all kept calling the company Ottilie and Lillie. So of course, that's how it came out.

The kids used the shampoo and body wash combo that evening in the shower and I was pretty impressed with it. The scent was nice and relaxing and it worked pretty good in their hair. I would definitely purchase this in the future! If you are looking for good for you products for your tweens, check out Ottilie and Lulu.

I did receive complimentary product for review and party purposes. I did not receive any monetary compensation. All thoughts are 100% mine.

Book Blast Event Day 13 Angela Ruth

BOOK BLAST EVENT
DAY 13
ANGELA RUTH AND LOVE FINDS YOU IN SUN VALLEY, IDAHO

Well, this was supposed to be the last day of the Book Blast event but I will be continuing it for a couple more days as I had some things that didn't come in in enough time for me to read them or get them done. So, some of them will be coming up the next couple days. But I will be posting some of my regular stuff as I tried not to do any during my event.

So, today I have author Angela Ruth with her book, Love Finds You in Sun Valley, Idaho. I will be receiving two copies of this book, one for review and one for giveaway. Hopefully they come in before the giveaway ends but like with some of the others, I can pass it on as soon as it comes in:) I will also get my review up after I read the book.

Thank you for being with us today, Angela!!
How long have you known you wanted to be an author?
My mom was a writer, and I grew up with stories about me published in magazines like Women's World. So in high school when I wrote a story about my cheerleading experience I just figured I should send it to a magazine the way my mom did. The story ended up being published as the first story in a new column for American Cheerleader Magazine. After that I was hooked. I studied journalism and worked for the school paper and started attending writing conferences before I even graduated. Myy mom was my first editor. So I had a little bit of an advantage over most aspiring authors.

Can you tell me a little bit about your book?
Love Finds You in Sun Valley, Idaho is about a stunt woman who returns to her homestate to film a movie and ends up falling for the movie's rafting coordinator. Unfortunately "Rafter Boy's" former fiance left him for the allure of Hollywood, and he has a grudge against celebrities. It takes a chubby uniciycle-riding eleven-year-old, a pastor with a jet ski ministry, and a loud-mouthed makeup artist to get him to give love a second chance.

When a reader gets done with your book, what do you want them to come away with?
I've noticed that everything I write has a theme of dreams and giving up our dreams--daring to have a life other than what we plan for ourselves. Choosing the dream giver over the dream allows God to give us something so much greater than we could have dreamed on our own. This is what inspires me about life and inspires me to write.

Is there a place you have always wanted to visit? A vacation spot, historical monument, overseas, etc?
Let see... I wanted to visit New Orleans after I read Uncle Tom's Cabin and Atlanta after I read Gone With the Wind and France after I read The Scarlet Pimpernel. But right now I'm thinking Disneyland thoughts because I promised my kids we would go when I sold my first book. I hope this is just the beginning.

If you could have dinner with 2 people, who would they be?
He's gone now, but I would have loved to meet John Hughes--screenplay writer for Home Alone, Dennis the Menace, and many more fun contemporary classics. And just for the entertainment factor, I would love to have dinner with my favorite comedian Brian Regan. They bring a lot of joy to people, which is a gift I greatly value.

What one event would you love to be at? Historical or future?
I honestly would have loved to see Joseph confront his brothers in Egypt. Talk about a dreamer who gave up his dreams for a much greater plan. That is my absolute favorite story of all times.

Do you have a favorite hobby?
I love to dance. So I teach dance aerobics. And I take my kids to the square dance hall for family line dance night. And I coach elementary school cheerleading. And I'm learning West Coast Swing. And I make up moves in my kitchen while cleaning.

Is there something about you most people wouldn't know?
I didn't take swimming lessons until college because I was deathly afraid of the water as a child. This is one fear my characters certainly do not posess.

Do you have any suggestions for the aspiring writer?
Write what you would want to read. Write your passions. And become passionate about making your writing better. Every book can always be better, so humility and determination will take you farther than anything else.

Any last thoughts for your readers?
My main character has two brothers who are not married, and I really want to write their romances. I would love to get ideas from readers about what kind of women Sam and Josh would fall for. So after you read Love Finds You in Sun Valley, you can help me brainstorm for the sequels!

And how can they connect with you?
I started my website before I chose a pen name, so for now readers can find out more about me at angelameuser.com. And I'm Angela Ruth Meuser on facebook. I look forward to e-meeting you!

I have to tell you, I am excited about reading this book! It sounds really neat and as this is a new novel, I am really excited! You know how much I like to feature new authors on here. Well, this is just another up and coming author:)

Book Blast Event Day 12 Lisa Wingate

BOOK BLAST EVENT
DAY 12
LISA WINGATE AND LARKSPUR COVE

This author I have for you today is one that I am not real familiar with. Seems like I am bringing a lot of new authors, at least for me, to this event. But some of you may be familiar with her books. Lisa Wingate has offered to give one of my readers a copy of her book, Larkspur Cove. This book does not release until February. Lisa is going to try and get the winner a copy the end of this month. Which is why I held this one out until close to the end of my event. But this may be an ARC copy. Not sure exactly how she is going to work it. But the book sounds good so you will want to get your entries in below:)

Why did you write this book?

A: Every story begins with an incident that upsets the framework of the characters’ normal lives, sending them on an unexpected journey. As I was developing Larkspur Cove and considering what sorts of incidents would upset the tranquil rhythms of lake life, a national story broke about a kidnapping victim who was held by her captor for eighteen years, before being rescued. Around the same time, I was chatting with an adoptive mother at a baseball game and learned that her daughter could have ended up in much the same situation. As an infant, the little girl had been taken on the run by a relative with a prison record. They moved from place to place, always staying ahead of social services, and weren’t found until a year and a half later, when suspicious neighbors submitted a police report. The little girl was rescued and placed with a wonderful, loving, Christian family. I wondered what would have happened if neighbors there had not been close knit and concerned for the welfare of others. Would they have noticed immediately that something was out of the ordinary? Would they have gotten involved? Would the fate of that young girl have been like that of kidnapping victim, Jaycee Dugard? Those questions became the basis of Larkspur Cove, in which the town recluse is suddenly spotted with a young girl in tow, creating a storm of uncertainty among the lakesiders and raising questions that must be answered.

What is the take-away message you want readers to receive after reading your book?

A: Well, to begin with, nosy neighbors are not necessarily a bad thing. God gives us neighbors for a reason—because we’re going to need them, sooner or later. There is also a theme of redemption and forgiveness in the story. Both Mart and Andrea are suffering from the shame, grief, and guilt of painful pasts. This determination to dwell in the past has trapped them in one place. Literally, by moving both of them to Moses Lake, God is pushing them to break free of the boxes in which they have imprisoned themselves. As is written on the Wall of Wisdom in the Waterbird Bait and Grocery in the story, If you have one eye on tomorrow and one eye on yesterday, you’ll be cockeyed today. Much of the story is about taking a fresh look at life.

Why is this book relevant today?

A: We hear of cases every day in which children slip through the cracks of the social services systems and the community’s watchful eye and remain in dire situations. I hope this story will encourage community members to become involved with at-risk children, and to become part of the village that makes a difference in young lives.

Len, a veteran who trudges through a life of challenges because of war injuries should tug on the heartstrings and, I hope, kindle our resolve to care for our vets.

The theme of church/pastoral scandal and downfall is also very relevant to many media stories today (see below for more on this topic).

What makes your book different than others like it in the market?

A: Larkspur Cove is the story of how one lakeside community responds when the town recluse is suddenly spotted with a mysterious little girl in tow. It is unique because of the blend of mystery, romance, and women’s fiction in a compelling setting, very suitable for both ABA and CBA outlets and readers. Andrea, as a character, is dealing with disillusionment in her faith, after a very traumatic church / clergy scandal and a divorce, which is an issue that many people can relate to, and one that is discussed often in the media in relation to church/pastoral scandals. We don’t often see the human side of these incidents, the families caught in the crossfire, and the results. Larkspur Cove looks at these issues in a very real-world scenario, considering the emotional, financial, and spiritual fallout of such a life-altering event.

What type of relationship do you have with your readers?

A: I enjoy communicating with readers through email, social networking, motivational and inspirational speaking events, and a website that points readers to online audio and video interviews, and contests. My Youtube channel has inspirational videos that ca be shared with clubs and emailed to friends. Fans can sign up on my website for e-newsletters or email me to be on the mailing list for post cards to announce new books.

BLURB

Larkspur Cove (February, 2011) introduces the new Moses Lake series, published by Bethany House. Set in a fictional lake community in Central Texas, the series takes a fresh look at life when community makes all the difference.

Adventure is the last thing on Andrea Henderson's mind when she moves to Moses Lake. After surviving the worst year of her life, she's struggling to build a new life for herself and her son as a social worker. Perhaps in doing a job that makes a difference, she can find some sense of purpose and solace in her shattered faith. For new Moses Lake game warden Mart McClendon, finding a sense of purpose in life isn't an issue. He took the job to get out of southwest Texas and the constant reminders of a tragedy for which he can't forgive himself. But when a little girl is seen with the town recluse, Mart and Andrea are drawn together in the search for her identity. The little girl offers them both a new chance at redemption and hope--and may bring them closer than either ever planned.

Book Blast Event Day 11 Pamela Griffin

BOOK BLAST EVENT
DAY 11
PAMELA GRIFFIN AND LOVE FINDS YOU IN HOPE, KANSAS

Sorry about not getting this up right away this morning. Just been kind of busy and with my software not working right, I am having to write out the whole interview. Not fun:( But, today I am bringing you another new author for me. I recently picked up a couple of the Love Finds You books and I enjoyed most of them. There were a couple I thought were corny:) But I really liked most of them. So, I am really anxious to try reading this one. I will be receiving two copies of this book in the mail. Pamela Griffin is sending me two of her books, Love Finds You In Hope, Kansas. One for review and one for giveaway. I am not exactly sure when they will arrive but once I get it in, the review will go up. I will also be hosting the giveaway for about 2 weeks. I should have the books by then:) If not, the winner's book will be shipped as soon as I receive it. The author has been having a really tough time of it fighting sickness. I felt really bad even getting her to do the interview for me.

Thank you for being with us today, Pamela!!!
Can you tell me a little bit about your newest book?
Love Finds You in Hope Kansas deals with hope again given to a family who has lost it.
In 1889, five little impish darlings decide their pa needs a wife and they want another ma. Only their pa, Rafe, has lost all hope, still grieving over their ma’s death. Alison Stripling has sworn off men, spurned because she is “nameless” – left on the doorstep of an orphanage as a baby. She gladly leaves the posh parlors of Boston for the prairie wilds of Kansas upon receiving a letter asking for help with the children. She believes the letter came from her brother-in-law, Rafe, and hopes it is the answer to prayer – but it was written by the children, as a ploy to get their pa hitched to Auntie Alison and secure them a ma. In an effort to get his stubborn brood to see reason, Rafe and Alison secretly band forces utilizing their own plan that goes haywire from the start – and more than once – with often comical, at times heart-wrenching results…in a town called Hope, will one unforgettable family at last come to find it?

When a reader gets done with your book, what do you want them to come away with?
I want them to be entertained and inspired, to feel better about themselves and more positive for their future, also encouraged by what conflicts the characters have triumphed over and the readers can apply to their own lives. But most importantly, I want them to feel more closely connected to God.

Is there a place you have always wanted to visit? A vacation spot, historical monument, overseas, etc?
There are a number of countries I would like to visit, but Scotland and Ireland would be first and foremost.

Do you have a favorite hobby?
I love art, drawing, and similar crafts, and all things connected to the arts (entertainment).

Do you have any suggestions for the aspiring writer?
Never give up. Multiple rejections don’t mean failure but instead should be considered as practice. Keep up the good work, seek always to improve, and one day you will be rewarded.

Any last thoughts for your readers?
Thank you to all who have encouraged and supported me over the first decade of my writing career. Here’s to the next decade – may we all be inspired and blessed! (
