Interview with Christy Barritt + Giveaway!

Okay, who here likes a good mystery? I love a mystery where you can't find out whodunit before the end of the story. And let me tell you, I have found just such a book in Organized Grime. Author Christy Barritt has written several suspense novels and I personally love her books! She is here today with an interview and she has also kindly offered to give one copy of her new book, Organized Grime, to one of my blog readers. I will be posting my review of this book next week and I also have two other of her books I just might review as well. I LOVED them all!

INTERVIEW WITH AUTHOR CHRISTY BARRITT

Thank you for being with us today, Christy!!!

How long have you known you wanted to be an author?I’ve loved stories and writing for as long as I can remember. I even wrote a couple of books in high school, continued writing into college, and finally in my mid-twenties started submitting my book proposals.

Can you tell me a little bit about your newest book?Organized Grime is the third book in the Squeaky Clean Mystery Series, which follows the adventures of crime-scene cleaner Gabby St. Claire. In this third installment, Gabby’s best friend is blamed for a crime and is now missing. Gabby is determined to not only find her, but to prove her innocence.

When a reader gets done with your book, what do you want them to come away with?I want them to walk away having escaped to story world, first of all. I’m not ashamed to say that I want my readers to be entertained! But after that, I want them to realize that redemption is always possible, that forgiveness can be healing, and that hope is always near.

Is there a place you have always wanted to visit? A vacation spot, historical monument, overseas, etc?Oh… this question is so hard. I love to travel. Well, I loved to travel before I had kids. Now it’s way too complicated. J I guess if I had to pick I’d say Italy . The landscape, history and people there just seem so interesting. Yeah… the food, also!

If you could have dinner with 2 people, who would they be?Mary Higgins Clark and Jerry Bruckheimer. I love being around creative people and think it would be really cool to learn from them and their success.

What one event would you love to be at? Historical or future?Hm…I’m from an area known for its history. Colonial Williamsburg is only an hour or so away from where I live. I think it would be cool to go back in time and see how people in Colonial times lived.

Do you have a favorite hobby?I love to sing and play the guitar. When possible, I like to watch Psych on TV. And just recently my family has gotten me hooked on the game Plants v. Zombies.

Is there something about you most people wouldn't know?I’ve had a gun drawn on me before. It was kind of crazy, but everything ended up working out okay. So, when I write about staring down danger, some of it I write from experience!

Do you have any suggestions for the aspiring writer?Keep writing! That’s the biggest thing I can tell new writers. So many people I’ve met have had so much potential, but they get their first rejection letter or hit their first case of writers block and they give up. Don’t do it. Writing is hard, but it’s worth it.

Any last thoughts for your readers?
I absolutely love my readers and nothing makes me happier than hearing from them!
I have several projects coming out this year also. In March, my writing book The Novel In Me: The Beginners Guide to Writing and Publishing releases. In April, my romantic suspense novels Race Against Time and The Trouble with Perfect come out. In May, my mystery, Death of the Couch Potato’s Wife, hits shelves, and in September Ricochet will release. Whew. It’s been a busy year! J

And how can they connect with you?
My website is: www.christybarritt.com. I’m also on Facebook (www.facebook.com/christy.barritt) and Twitter (cbarritt). Stay tuned for a major website overhaul and blog—coming soon!
Thanks so much for doing this interview. It’s been great chatting with you!
