Caring for our Vets

Today I have a subject that I am sure many of you are aware of. I post about it sometimes and to me it is a very important part of life. I am talking about our veterans. This is a subject very near and dear to my heart. I believe it is something we should teach our children about and raise them to care about the people who have fought for our country. One way I think we should do this is by giving to them. Our vets that is, not the kids:) Whether it is a company like cars for vets, or through an organization that takes care of food, entertainment or help in finding a job, or just the way you help a friend out, there are plenty of ways to get involved. And again, the children will get a blessing from being a help and the vets will enjoy seeing the younger people.

1.Take The Time.
This is the big thing that most people complain about, and yet how many vets have only free time. It is important that we show them we care and if it means having a little less time for our sports, playing golf, or running to the mall, I think it is well worth it to show them we care. Or better yet, take them along!! Being a part of a group is always good. Watching a game or going to the park, show them they are important.

2.Donate or Give.
Here is one of my favorite things. Most people donate to an organization with money but there are so many different ways to give to our veterans. For example, that car you have sitting in the yard that you barely use? Why not donate it!! There are so many people who could put a good car to use and yet some people have several vehicles sitting around. There are so many things we don't use that could be another persons treasure. And this works for a lot of things, but our veterans could put it to good use. And believe me, there is nothing like giving a car to a veteran and seeing the look on their face. Your children will be blessed and so will you.

Have a story to tell about giving to a veteran? Tell it below.
