This is Our Time DVD Review & #Giveaway! Excellent Family Film!

In our family, we love good Christian films. But they are becoming harder and harder to find. Many of them have viewpoints we don't agree with or things that might be for a more mature audience than we want them to see. So I was somewhat hesitant about all of us viewing this new one, This is Our Time, but my worries were all in vain. It was an excellent film that I truly enjoyed and I think will do a lot of good in our Christian homes. Don't forget to enter the giveaway!

This Is Our Time, distributed by Pure Flix, follows the post-collegiate lives of five friends connected by their strong belief in God who all long to make a meaningful difference in the world. But when tragedy strikes the close-knit group, their friendship and their faith are tested in ways they never imagined.
This is an inspirational film about what it really means, and what it really takes, to follow the call of God in your life.   “The experiences the characters in THIS IS OUR TIME face are the kinds of real-life ups and downs, successes and devastation, all of us encounter in living life,” said Lisa Arnold, the film’s writer, director and co-producer. “I wanted to tell a story that would resonate with young people just stepping out into the world to make their mark that would help them see that no matter the circumstances they face, God is always with them, loving them, guiding them.”

The movie tells the interwoven stories of Luke (T.J. Dalrymple) and AlĂ© (Erin Bethea), who marry right after school and move to India to serve as missionaries for Embrace A Village, a ministry that cares for those afflicted with leprosy and their families; aspiring financier Catherine (Kate Cobb), who joins a prestigious financial institution determined to make an impact on corporate America; Ryder (Matthew Florida), who lands an impressive job in social media and can’t wait to use the powerful medium for a greater good; and Ethan (Shawn-Caulin Young,) seemingly the odd man out, who struggles to find his God-given-purpose and feels sidelined by God.
“What they all come to learn is that it never really was their time,” Arnold said. “It always was, always is, God’s time.”

The whole plot of this film deals with five young people who have just gotten out of college. Two of the friends marry(Luke and Ale, or Alexandria) and plan on going to India to help the people in leprosy colonies. One of the men(Ryder) goes into a big job working with social media and the other young person, Catherine,  finds her dream job. The last young man, happens to be Ale's brother and he is somewhat left out. He works at a small cafe making sandwiches and feels like God isn't calling him or going to use him. This is the beginning of their life. They have everything before them and it looks like life is going grand. Then tragedy strikes and they are all thrown for a loop. At this point in time, they all have doubts about God and the calling He had on their lives. I don't want to give anything away but there is a lot entailed in this movie.

There are some familiar faces for me including Erin Bethea who is on the great film Fireproof. Many will also recognize Eric Roberts and Bruce Marchiano. There were also some new faces but they all did great jobs in their acting. It flowed wonderfully and I was impressed with the skills shown. No home movie recording here and it was all quality:) This is a film I would have no problem showing anyone. It deals with a lot of sensitive subjects and some of these might go above some little guys heads but none of our family had a hard time understanding the gist of the movie.

Now for most of us, we already have a calling that we realize and are striving for. Maybe you are one of those who has already accomplished what you felt called to do and you will have no use for this film. But there are still some of us, me included, who feel sidelined. Kind of like Ethan felt at one point. Or maybe you thought you knew what God was calling you to do and then something happens and you wonder if you had things right? A lot of questions are presented in this film and I think some wonderful answers are given. The Professor(Bruce Marchiano) gives excellent wisdom to the young people that is relevant to many of us, in fact I would dare say to all of us at some point in our life.

Overall an excellent movie I would urge everyone to pick up. Lots of great answers and even some humor at times. A film to make you think. Loved it!!
