History Hero App Review w/ $50 American Express GC #Giveaway!!

Alrighty friends, here is the giveaway I told you about the other day. I am sure you all will enjoy it:) But first, let me tell you about the really neat app I found called History Hero. I wasn't too sure how I would like it or if the kids would enjoy it, but boy was I wrong! Read a little about it and then see how I liked it before you enter the giveaway at the bottom.

The World Needs a Hero

The history of the world is at risk. The International Committee on Extraterrestrial Threats is reporting that the Erasers are closing in on museums, churches and other historical sites. Time is running out. If we don’t secure critical data about our most important historical artifacts, our history will be gone. Forever.
The answer to this global crisis is History Hero – the first interactive video game to guide you through the world’s most important museums, churches, and historical sites. One simple download will transform a family sightseeing outing into a world-saving, alien-battling, history-learning adventure.
Developed in consultation with top U.S. educators, History Hero brings history to life in a way that guidebooks and audio tours cannot. There are History Hero missions designed for kids as young as 4-7 all the way up to teenagers and adults.

How many of you take field trips to museums with your children? And how many times do you end up having to rush because the kids think it is "BORING"? Well, I think that History Hero will totally take care of that problem for you from now on. This app is something I was really impressed with and I am sure you will be too after hearing about it. You can pick different cities including Chicago, New York, Washington DC, and even overseas places such as London, Paris or Rome.

And from what I hear, they will be adding more attractions and more cities as they go along. I chose Chicago, IL for my review. We often go there for vacation and have even visited the Field Museum. Now, just a heads up, because I was not able to use this in Chicago, I did not get a full review. But thankfully, because we have visited the field museum before, I was able to answer most of the questions:)

Here is how it works. This downloads to your iPad or iPod from the Apple store or iTunes. And it is basically an interactive video game! The Erasers are coming to take over the world and you have to stop them. And how exactly do you do that? By saving our history!! You get to choose from several characters and I chose Ally N. Blast.

This is all setup as a mission with file folders and an oath to follow, etc. Then after you take the oath(basically your rules of not touching, no running, and other things children seem to think are okay), you get your mission. Follow the directions and get to your first relic. They have to answer questions to make sure they aren't faking it, and then get points for each question they answer right. And from there, it gains in momentum!

Okay, the main reason I like this app is getting the children involved. It is like a game and it is fun! I enjoyed going through it and because I had been to the Field Museum before I was able to answer all the questions except one. It really is a great way to get the children excited about going to a "boring history place" as I have so often heard it called. There are also different age levels and younger kids can receive help from the adults if they need it but I don't think they will need it. Nice graphics, a mission to make it fun and good questions to keep it interesting all combine to make a wonderful trip around the museum. I will definitely be using this on our next trip to the Field Museum!!

Readers, I have a really sweet giveaway for you all. I was sent a $10 iTunes gift card so one of my readers can try out the History Hero app for themselves. But I also received a $50 American Express gift card to giveaway as well! Just to make sure things are clear, one winner will receive both items. The iTunes is an ecard while the American Express is a physical card, I will be mailing this to the winner.

This giveaway will end 9/17. Winner will be chosen through Random.org and will have 48 hours to respond or another winner will be chosen.
