The Holy Ghost DVD Review & #Giveaway! #‎FCblogger‬

I received a copy of this film in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are 100% mine.

The documentary Holy Ghost follows filmmaker Darren Wilson as he travels the world attempting to make a movie that is completely led by the Holy Spirit. At times challenging, but always uplifting, Holy Ghost reveals a God far bigger and more active than previously thought.

The director of Finger of GodFurious Love and Father of Lights, Darren Wilson sets out to make a movie that is completely led by the Holy Spirit. No plan, no script, no safety net - he just goes wherever he feels the Spirit leading him to try and discover the adventure God has for him. Whether it's the riches of Monte Carlo, a heavy metal concert, or the oldest city in the world, the result is a film that not only challenges and excites, but also reveals a God who is far more alive and active than you ever imagined.

MY THOUGHTS-When I signed up to review this DVD, The Holy Ghost, I thought it sounded interesting. A crew of people who basically go wherever they feel the Lord leading them, no plans ahead of time and just setting out to film things. I figured we would see poverty, people who needed help, the Holy Ghost working in ways most people don't see, and so on. I didn't really realize what this was. Needless to say, I did find it intriguing but not quite my cup of tea.

The film is actually about Christians who go about the world(yes, all over the place, not just the US) and present the Lord in different ways. Mainly through what I would call prayerful healings. The movie opens with quotes from various people including the leader of Korn, a famous metal rock group, Michael W. Smith, evangelists, ministers, leaders, etc. They are all about one topic, the Holy Ghost. How they met the Holy Ghost, the high feeling, and so forth. It then goes to the crew, I believe there were three of them, who go to Salt Lake City, Utah and converse with people. But they don't only converse and talk with them about the Lord, they pray over these people which gives them a burning sensation, they feel the Holy Ghost up their arms and across their chest, etc.

We see as one preacher who doesn't agree with their method and says that the Holy Ghost doesn't work in that manner anymore since we have the Scriptures. The film then cuts to a teacher who rebukes or argues with this man. And at this point I had a problem. See, I believe like the preacher who said that the sign gifts and such are not for today. And I watched this film where the teacher basically cuts him down(not while talking to him, they added these parts afterwards) and I didn't care for the way in which it was done Biblically. And believe me, I understand difference of opinion and such so I continued watching. In my mind I knew the verses and what was being said.

The film goes on as the crew talks to various people in different walks of life. Including people from Korn, people in a temple in India, etc. This was definitely not my type of movie. I have a hard time sitting there watching a man play in a hard rock group and then turn around and talk about how the Holy Ghost gave him a high he never wanted to come down from. Sorry but I had a hard time finishing the movie. But I did. I think it gave me a different look at how people feel about their relationship with the Holy Ghost and that we don't need to be ashamed or nervous to talk about Him. It was just not something I felt comfortable watching. Others could probably watch this with no problem at all and enjoy it. This would be great for a gift over the holidays, or to enjoy as a family.
