40 Days to Lasting Change & New Years Resolutions +$50 Certificate #Giveaway!

This post is in conjunction with Family Christian and is part of a linky challenge. I received a book free of charge in exchange for an honest review.

Well, it is that time of year where everyone is making resolutions for the new year. I have to tell you, I have never really been big on these rules. Many times we make them and just break them within a week or two. But after reading my newest devotional book, my perspective has changed. 40 Days to Lasting Change, an AHA Challenge, has literally done that. Challenged my thinking on different things. I received this book as part of a linky group and I reviewed days 12 and 13.

Day 13 is what really struck me while reading this. Basically each chapter is for a day and it is only a couple pages long but Kyle Idleman packs so much into those few pages. I have read all his other books and totally enjoyed them, maybe the wrong word for it as some things make me squirm from guilt, but you get what I mean:) The title for day 13 is Seek the Silence and draws off of Psalm 46:10. Be still and know that I am God. Just a small sentence but the author really pushes the reader to examine their life and see how much quiet time is spent with the Lord. The noise and bustle going on around us often drowns out that quiet voice. We all need some time to just sit, meditate and listen for Him to talk. Needless to say, this really hit me. In a family of 8 it is often hard to find some peace and quiet, let alone 30 minutes or so to meditate. So that is one of my resolutions this year, to make time, whether it is 30 minutes or 45, to spend time with the Lord alone.

If anyone is looking for a new devotional, I would urge you to pick this one up. I have already told friends about it and one is looking to purchase one for her devotions. Please check out the linky below where other readers reviewed different days. See what they all thought about the book and believe me, you will see how this book is changing lives.

There is a group giveaway here for a $50 Family Christian Stores gift certificate. This can be used online or in stores. You could purchase this book and then some!! Enter through the form below!

**DISCLOSURE: I was given a free product in exchange for an honest review. No other compensation was given, and all thoughts are 100% mine. Please read my full disclosure policy HERE.**
