About Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein:

MY THOUGHTS-When I first picked up this book to read, The Bridge Builder, I was expecting a book that would not hold my interest at all. I like reading biographies but this was a man I had never really heard of before. Would I find it interesting enough to finish? Or would it be something I just skimmed enough to review. I dove in and I am so amazed at how much I enjoyed this!

To begin with, the man himself, Yechiel Eckstein is amazing. I found myself in tears throughout his journey, laughing at some points and then struck by his strength of spirit. The book takes you from his grandparents and then through his life, growing in the position God had given him. The name of the book, Bridge Builder, fits Yechiel perfectly. I have since looked into his ministry, International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, and have seen the work they are doing. If there is one biography I would urge you to read this year, Bridge Builder would be it. This book really hit me in a way that hasn't happened in a while. And to think I almost passed it by. You will not be disappointed!

I just read Chrissy Cymbala Toledo's memoir, Girl in the Song. It is an excellent book. I recommend it highly.

You know, I read a shorter biography about David Livingstone a LOONG time ago. I have Amy Carmichael's in my library pile. I think I need to move it up. :D
