Valley of Decision Blog Tour!

Valley of Decision
By Lynne Gentry

Every choice has a consequence in the explosive conclusion to the Carthage Chronicles as Lisbeth returns to third-century Carthage for a thrilling final adventure.
Thirteen years ago, Lisbeth made an impossible decision—leave third-century Carthage and her husband Cyprian behind for good. She knew it was to protect her daughter Maggie, so Lisbeth gathered the strength to move on with her life.
All these years, Lisbeth has thrown herself into her work and raising her headstrong daughter, all to live up to the promise she made to Cyprian. But Maggie is sick of being protected. In an act of teenage rebellion Maggie decides to do what her mother can’t—secretly returning to the third century on a quest to bring her father back, leaving Lisbeth no choice but to follow.
With Maggie’s surprise arrival in Carthage, chaos ensues. She finds her grandmother on trial for murder and attempts to save her, but instead the diversion sparks a riot that nearly destroys the plagued city. Only one thing will appease the wrath of the new proconsul of Carthage: the death of the instigator.
Will Lisbeth arrive in time to save her daughter from the clutches of Rome? How can God possibly redeem such a slew of unwise decisions and deep regrets? Filled with heart-wrenching twists and riveting action, Valley of Decision brings the romantic adventure epic, The Carthage Chronicles, to an electrifying conclusion.

Medical Drama at its Finest! Miracle Drug! @RichardMabry

Miracle Drug
By Richard Mabry

Overcoming these odds will take more than a miracle drug---it will take a miracle.

The infection wasn't supposed to happen, but it did. The treatment was supposed to take care of it, but it didn't. Then Dr. Josh Pearson discovers why---his patients, including the former President of the United States, have been dosed with a different strain of the original virus, one that is universally fatal. The only chance for survival is treatment with an experimental drug, but the manufacturer might already have discarded its supply.

As if treating the President of the United States isn't stressful enough, the situation goes from bad to worse when Rachel Moore, a nurse Josh is falling in love with, falls ill. With the nation's eyes on him, Josh must pull off a miracle to save a man who holds a good deal of power and the woman who holds his heart.

MY REVIEW-I have always been fascinated by the medical world. And this author here is one of my favorites who writes medical dramas interesting enough to capture the attention of those who dare to delve into them. In all reality, these books would be at the top of my list for medical novels. I have read a few others and they just didn't pull me in the way these do.

The book opens with a man being murdered but made to look like he had a heart attack. Yep, a page turner from the beginning:) Richard Mabry knows how to pull the reader in from the first page or so. There is a killer virus on the loose and no one knows how long it will take to stop it, or who it will take down before the end, including the President of the United States. I really loved the fast pace of this and how you learn medical terms without being bogged down. An excellent novel that I thoroughly loved!

Snacking with Harvest Trail Bars from Atkins! @AtkinsInsider

As someone who is making a lifestyle change(I don't like to call it a diet) in the way I eat, snacking is one of those things that comes into play a lot. Throughout my day I eat three meals but I often like to pick up a quick treat in the afternoon to tide me over after lunch but before I eat dinner. Only problem is, do you know how difficult it can be to find healthy snacks that will help ease the hunger without adding on the pounds? That is why I was so happy to get to try the new Atkins Harvest Trail snack bars. These were so good!

I got all four flavors to try, Dark Chocolate Cherry & Nut, Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter, Vanilla Fruit & Nut and the Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Caramel. As you can see, there are some delicious flavors here.

They aren't all dark chocolate, which was a big plus for me. I like chocolate but not overload, and I am glad to say that the chocolate is a big part of it, but not too much. In fact, my favorite out of them all was the Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Caramel. It really reminded me of the salted caramels I eat now and then. Much better devouring this and knowing it is good for me:)

I did like the Vanilla Fruit & Nut as well as the Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter bars. The only one I didn't really care for was the Dark Chocolate Cherry & Nut. The cherries were a bit much for me as it came out very strong. But these bars became a fast favorite. They are so easy to grab as you walk out the door, something to pack for a trip or day at the office or gym, etc.

I also want to mention that while I was snacking on one of these in my bedroom Glory, our Sheltie, decided she wanted a taste:)

No, she didn't get a piece of this, I wasn't sharing. But she did get a doggie treat. These really are great for you as well as tasting good. Not like some snacks you get that taste diet. So glad to try these and I will be purchasing more in the future. Now to see if I can get a big box at Sam's Club:D

A Noble Masquerade by Kristi Ann Hunter

A NOBLE MASQUERADE
BY KRISTI HUNTER

Lady Miranda Hawthorne acts every inch the lady, but inside she longs to be bold and carefree. Entering her fourth Season and approaching spinsterhood in the eyes of society, she pours her innermost feelings out not in a diary but in letters to her brother's old school friend, a duke--with no intention of ever sending these private thoughts to a man she's heard stories about but never met. Meanwhile, she also finds herself intrigued by Marlow, her brother's new valet, and although she may wish to break free of the strictures that bind her, falling in love with a servant is more of a rebellion than she planned.
When Marlow accidentally discovers and mails one of the letters to her unwitting confidant, Miranda is beyond mortified. And even more shocked when the duke returns her note with one of his own that initiates a courtship-by-mail. Insecurity about her lack of suitors shifts into confusion at her growing feelings for two men--one she's never met but whose words deeply resonate with her heart, and one she has come to depend on but whose behavior is more and more suspicious. When it becomes apparent state secrets are at risk and Marlow is right in the thick of the conflict, one thing is certain: Miranda's heart is far from all that's at risk for the Hawthornes and those they love.

MY THOUGHTS-Oh my word! I could not believe how quickly I grew to love the characters in this book. Kristi is a new author to me and I wasn't sure what to expect. The cover has a sedate, genteel looking, Victorian woman on it but not at all what is inside! It is extremely interesting and fast paced enough to keep you reading. You will not want to stop until you are finished. Of course, I think it ended all too soon but now I am anxiously awaiting the next book in the series. The characters have such spunk and personalities. I seriously was reading this and kept chuckling out loud. Needless to say the rest of the family wanted to know what I was reading:) If you like great writing that makes you laugh, this is the one for you. Loved it and going on my keeper shelf!

Fun Day at WonderWorks in Pigeon Forge! @WonderWorksTN

When we travel, we always like to find the fun attractions each place has to offer. So while visiting Pigeon Forge, TN for the National Quartet Convention, we also got to check out some of the wild and wacky places this wonderful town has for its visitors. And one of these happens to be, WonderWorks!

The only free time we had during the days was pretty much a couple hours in the afternoon or early morning. So we picked a day that had an open slot and headed out to WonderWorks. If you have driven from Sevierville to Pigeon Forge, you will most likely have seen the upside down building that houses WonderWorks. That is just the beginning of the fun experience as you head up the creaking ramp.

There are several different rooms that you will go through, but first is the inversion tunnel. And man does that hit you! It doesn't look long or scary but when you get about halfway through, you just might want to close your eyes. It really does make you feel totally out of sorts. Then you will enter the nature room. This has information on earthquakes, hurricanes, natural disasters, etc. Including a bucket with water that is the temperature of the water when the Titanic went down. You can challenge your friends to see who can put their hand in there longest. Two exhibits in this section were down or not running at the time.

The space room was quite fun as well as the sports section. I kept trying to talk them into doing the 360 bikes but that was a no-go. I think the next part was probably a favorite, the Light and Sound section. M loved playing with the reflections and the strike a pose part! She spent quite a while playing in those two rooms.

The other section we enjoyed was the art part. I even rhyme:) This is full of optical illusions and really shows how the eye can see things. They also put in a small forensics section here with fingerprint and facial reconstruction, etc. We had a hard time getting the one program to work but hopefully others have a better time with it. Oh, and one last fun part, the bathroom! Yep, we are talking a bathroom here. But, this bathroom has glass walls that you can see through. I don't want to spoil anything for anyone but the glass frosts over when the person goes in and locks the door! It was amazing and they really liked playing with it:)

This was a super fun experience and people of all ages will love it. My only concern was the exhibits that were not working. It was not a major amount overall but probably 5-6 of them were out of order. And they were some of the main ones. We would have loved to do the earthquake cafe and the virtual army experience but those were both down. Overall though a really good time was had by all!

I Am Back!!!

Wow, I cannot believe how fast the two weeks flew by. Vacation time is always fun but I felt a little lost not being on here posting every couple days. We were jam packed with things to do every day so I wouldn't have had the time, nor the energy, while I was gone. But I now have a lot to tell you all about! There will be plenty of good news as well as the start of my 2015 Holiday Gift Guide next week!! Anyone else excited? I know I sure am:)

Our trip started in IL, went through Indiana and Kentucky to end up in the beautiful state of Tennessee(that pic above is from the Smoky Mountains) for the National Quartet Convention. Over the next couple days I will update you on things we did as well as trying to get caught up on my reviews, etc. So stick with me as you take the trip beside me:D I promise, it will be fun. I will post pictures of the fun places we went, the things we saw, including bears, and some reviews of places I was able to visit for my blog.
