Interview with Annalisa Daughety with Book Giveaway!!

Hey everybody!! We have an author who has become pretty popular recently. Annalisa Daughety is author of Love is A Battlefield and the new one, Love is Monumental. She has offered to give one of my blog readers a copy of her new book, Love is Monumental.

Here is a little bit about her before we get into the interview:) Annalisa Daughety, an Arkansas native, won first place in the Contemporary Romance category at the 2008 ACFW Genesis Awards. After graduating from Freed-Hardeman University, Annalisa worked as a park ranger at Shiloh National Military Park. She currently resides in Memphis, Tennessee. Her first book, Love Finds You in Charm, Ohio, released in September 2009. In October 2009, Love is a Battlefield hit the shelves. Love is a Battlefield is the first book in the Walk in the Park series. Each book in the series is set in a different national park. The next book in the series, Love is Monumental, released in May 2010.

How long have you known you wanted to be an author?
I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember. When I was in elementary school, I would write and illustrate stories and fold them up like books. I kept journals throughout high school and college where I documented every small detail of my life and my analysis of it. Reading and writing have always been a huge part of my life.
When a reader gets done with your book, what do you want them to come away with?
I want to write stories that people connect with. I hope readers will identify with the characters and the themes. My characters aren’t perfect and they always have a lesson to learn. I also want to entertain and offer a bit of an escape—especially with the Walk in the Park series, I hope each book feels like a mini-vacation to a National Park.

Can you tell me a little bit about your newest book?
Love is Monumental is the second book in the Walk in the Park series. Here’s the blurb from the back cover:
Park ranger Vickie Harris loves living in the nation's capitol. She loves working at the Washington Monument. But she's never been in love. In fact, her personal life is non-existent. On her thirtieth birthday, shy Vickie impulsively promises her friends that she’ll ask out the next eligible man she meets. Professor Thatcher Torrey has had enough heartache to last forever. Through with love, he’s spent years building his life around work. So when his longtime rival sets out to make a historic find, Thatcher is hot on his heels. But he can’t do the research alone. Intellectual Vickie is the perfect research partner and he'll stop at nothing to convince her to help him with his quest. Just as these polar opposites form a bond, a secret from Thatcher’s past pulls them apart. Will they go their separate ways? Or will they come to realize that when it’s with the right person, Love is Monumental?

Is there a place you have always wanted to visit? A vacation spot, historical monument, overseas, etc?
I’ve always wanted to go to Egypt.

If you could have dinner with 2 people, who would they be?
This is a hard question! I’d love to have dinner with my great grandparents—to learn about what their lives were like and find out interesting things about my ancestors.

What one event would you love to be at? Historical or future?
I worked as a park ranger at Shiloh National Military Park, so I think if I could go back to one event, it would be either the days just before or just after the Battle of Shiloh. (not during though!)

Do you have a favorite hobby?
I love to travel, although I don’t do it as much as I’d like. I also love to garden. I enjoy watching sports—especially college football. And I collect vintage aprons. If I ever find the time, I’d like to learn to quilt—so that is my “future” hobby!
Is there something about you most people wouldn't know?
My first name comes from a book—Airs Above the Ground by Mary Stewart. My mom read the book while she was pregnant with me. Also, I once went paragliding in the Swiss Alps. And one more, just for fun…I was in a Domino’s Pizza commercial last year.

Do you have any suggestions for the aspiring writer?
I think the best thing I ever did as an aspiring writer was joining American Christian Fiction Writers, so I definitely recommend that. Also, don’t give up! Keep writing and learning the craft.

Any last thoughts for your readers?
My next book comes out in October—the third book in the Walk in the Park series. Love is Grand is set at the Grand Canyon.

And how can they connect with you?
Through Facebook, Twitter, and my Website.

Thank you so much for doing this today, Annalisa!! I really enjoyed learning more about you:) Sounds like you have had some fun throughout your life.

Unfortunately we have never been to Shiloh National Military Park, but we have Fort Tabor Military Park right around the corner, about five miles away. We love to go there and walk around, read about the history, take pictures and have picnics, etc.

I've never been to Shiloh National Park, but I HAVE been to Columbus-Belmont National Park, where the Confederacy actually tried to put a chain across the Mississippi River to stop Union boats from coming down river. Love Annalisa's writing, and can't wait to read "Love is Monumental" AND "Love is Grand!"

It's been many years, but I grew up a few miles from Shiloh and went on several fieldtrips there as a child. I've also been to Gettysburg park. I went to school with Annalisa and she is truly one special lady. Love is a Battlefield is a great book. I look forward to the new one!
