My Thoughts of A Tailor-Made Bride by Karen Witemeyer

A TAILOR-MADE BRIDE
from Bethany House Publishers

"When a dressmaker who values beauty tangles with a liveryman who condemns vanity, the sparks begin to fly!

Jericho "J.T." Tucker wants nothing to do with the new dressmaker in Coventry, Texas. He's all too familiar with her kind--shallow women more devoted to fashion than true beauty. Yet, except for her well-tailored clothes, this seamstress is not at all what he expected.

Hannah Richards is confounded by the man who runs the livery. The unsmiling fellow riles her with his arrogant assumptions and gruff manner, while at the same time stirring her heart with unexpected acts of kindness. Which side of Jericho Tucker reflects the real man?

When Hannah decides to help Jericho's sister catch a beau--leading to consequences neither could have foreseen--will Jericho and Hannah find a way to bridge the gap between them?"

Now everyone who has seen my blog posts, know that I love Christian Fiction historical books! And this one, by Karen Witemeyer, sounded like my style of book:) I mean, who can resist that plot! I had never heard of this author before but I am always willing to try a new one. It seems like this is Karen's first novel! But I couldn't tell from reading the book!!! This in no way seemed like a first novel. Many times when I read an author's first book, I can tell in the style of writing. This book flowed like you wouldn't believe. Her style of writing actually reminded me of Cathy Hake, who is one of my favorite authors.

I really enjoyed the characters in this book. At times I wanted to strangle Jericho but then he turned around and was a wonderful gentleman. To me, an author is really good when she can make you do that with characters. And Hannah was good too. The person I most enjoyed though was probably Cordelia, Jericho's sister. I can definitely connect with her on several points. Ezra was an added benefit too:)

This book was really above and beyond my expectations. Has points of laughter, some tears maybe and Bible in it. I really liked how Karen wove Scripture throughout it without preaching at the reader. I will definitely be watching for her next book, Head In The Clouds.

Way to go Karen!!
