A Beauty Refind by Tracie Peterson with #Giveaway!

A Beauty Refined
By Tracie Peterson

What does it take to reveal the true beauty of a hidden gem?
Phoebe Von Bergen, the daughter of a German count, is excited to visit America for the first time while her father purchases sapphires in Helena, Montana. Little does she know, however, that her father’s intentions—both for her and the gemstones—are not what she thinks.
Ian Harper, a lapidary working in Helena, finds the dignified young woman staying at the Broadwater Hotel more than a little intriguing. Yet the more he gets to know her, the more he realizes that her family story is based on a lie–a lie she has no knowledge of. And Ian believes he knows the only path that will lead her to freedom.
Meeting Ian has changed everything for Phoebe, and she begins to consider staying in America, regardless of her father’s plans. But she may not be prepared for the unexpected danger that results when her family’s deception begins to unravel.

MY THOUGHTS-Ah, I just love jumping into one of Tracie Peterson's lavish novels. For a great historical that is true to the smallest details and time period pieces, this is an author you want to follow for sure. Her newest story is A Beauty Refined, second in the Sapphire Brides, and a nice look at life in the rough and wonderful state of Montana.

There is a good amount of mystery that shrouds our young heroine, Pheobe Von Bergen. She is a delightful German lady who has been traveling across the United States with her father in search of priceless gems and jewels. They arrive in Helena Montana and it is here that the story actually picks up. A rugged young man, Ian Harper, comes on the scene, much to the delight or dismay of Pheobe. He is a commoner after all and not one she would normally associate with. But he also might end up being the one who carries her through the devastating event that occurs. Oh, and I can't forget little Kenny, the rambunctious and adorable boy that brings quite a bit of fun to the story. Again, I can't tell you how much I enjoyed this novel, it definitely brought a piece of the past to my life.

Paper Hearts by Courtney Walsh with #Review

PAPER HEARTS

Abigail Pressman would never have guessed that love notes penned on paper hearts by an anonymous couple could restore her belief in love. As a business owner in a quaint town at the base of the Rockies, she’s poured everything into dreams of expansion . . . and resisting the matchmaking efforts of the Valentine Volunteers, who gather in her store to continue Loves Park’s tradition of stamping mail with the city’s romantic postmark.

When Abigail is unwillingly drafted into the Volunteers, she encounters the paper hearts, a distraction that couldn’t come at a worse time. A hard-to-read doctor has become Abigail’s new landlord, and he’s threatening to end her lease to expand his practice.

As she fights a growing attraction to this handsome man crushing her dreams, Abigail is inspired to string the hearts in her store, sparking a citywide infatuation with the artsy trend. But when a new batch of hearts reaches the Volunteers, it appears something tragic has happened to the couple. Will uncovering their story confirm Abigail’s doubts about love, or could it rescue her dreams . . . and her heart?

MY THOUGHTS- Courtney Walsh has quickly risen to one of my top ten authors. After reading this one and her newest, Change of Heart, I realized what talent was being brought forth. This story is a whirlwind tale of romance, a gaggle of women who are well meaning busybodies, and a town ready for love. Absolutely loved this deep read and how it brought some things to light in my own life. Definitely an author I would urge you to take a chance on!

Murder Mezzo Forte Blog Tour With #Review

Murder Mezzo Forte

He is a reclusive history professor with musical hallucinations. . . .
She a headstrong professor of religion, a converted Wiccan. Earlier, they solved a campus murder, but now police say they formed two-thirds of an illicit love triangle with a newly-murdered female colleague and they’re probably guilty of her murder. A leak of the alleged scandal to the college administration threatens their jobs.
Their desperate attempt to prove themselves innocent of the triangle and the murder plunges them into a tangle of unsavory corporate relationships among college trustees. And it puts their lives in danger from a mysterious criminal organization that seems to have tentacles everywhere.
Can this ill-matched pair’s stumbling efforts succeed against the entrenched forces of the police, the college’s incompetent administration, and that powerful but unseen criminal organization? If not, they may end up unemployed, in prison, or suffering a fate much worse.

MY REVIEW- Donn Taylor is a new author to me. I have read many mysteries, and I almost didn't request this one when I saw the part about her being a former Wiccan. I really don't like when references are made to anything like that. But I went ahead and requested it since I do love a good mystery.

Needless to say my feelings are mixed about this one. The characters were entertaining and the dialogue was fun, but there were times I felt it moved really slow. Sometimes the pace was quite good and things moved along fast, but then it would drag. It wasn't enough to keep me from finishing the book for sure, but it was enough that I felt it needed mention. The mystery aspect was good and while the Wiccan stuff was definitely in the book, it wasn't an overwhelming part. Overall a good book but not a favorite.
