MY THOUGHTS-This really was an interesting book that I found myself intrigued with. Not only am I a fan of historical fiction, but I really enjoy a book where the characters are diverse. The plot is pretty typical for many fiction stories, but Jennifer does a great job at inserting flair and lots of details that make for a wonderful addition to my shelf. God Loves Daddy and Me Book Review + #Giveaway

Today I want to share with you all a very sweet book for your children or grandchildren titled, God Loves Daddy & Me. And let me tell you, it is so cute for the little ones!

The whole premise of this book is sharing how much daddies mean to their children, and how special children are to their fathers. It emphasizes the moments that we spend together, and even the times where a child does something wrong, how much the father still cares for them. I really loved the illustrations in the book, soft and cute, they really draw the child's eye. The age range on this is for 2-5 and B, who is 4, loved this! As you can see from the pictures, it was carried around and devoured the whole day after it came in.

I will say the rhyming method is just a tad off? Even though the words did rhyme, the flow just sounds odd when you are actually reading the book. Other than that, this was an adorable little book that is great for fathers to read with their children.

The publisher is hosting a great giveaway where 5 people will win a copy of this sweet book, be sure to check it out through the link below.

Live The Life You Want Now And In The Future

Al Zdenek noticed early in his career that his clients, and people in general, had not received a good financial education and had not surrounded themselves with the best advisors. As a result, they were not making the best financial decisions for themselves or their families and at times were making disastrous choices.
This is what inspired Zdenek to write the book “Master Your Cash Flow” (www.MasterYourCashFlowBook.com), which provides the way to make the 100 percent correct financial decision and help individuals and families grow and retain wealth and live the life they want now and in the future.
“Educating someone on how to consistently make the best financial decisions lets them avoid the costly mistakes most make in their lives,” says Zdenek, president, CEO and founder of Traust Sollus Wealth Management. “By consistently making the best financial decisions, they can find more cash flow to spend or save. Saving this new cash flow, they may achieve financial independence sooner, work less in life and have less anxiety and stress in their financial lives.”
Zdenek says one way that people can start reaching their financial goals is by using debt smarter, and getting away from the mindset that all debt is bad. Well-run business uses debt to increase shareholders. People can do the same to increase their wealth.

Here are some more ways to empower people to transform lives by consistently making the best financial decisions possible.
• Focus. Many don’t know where to begin to take control of their cash flow.  If you don’t know, get help, says Zdenek. The busy lives that people lead can cause them to not spend the time looking at the amounts they spend and why. Those who don’t focus on where their money is going could end up wasting a lot of it, and in the long run have to work harder and longer in life.
• Don’t Concentrate On Just Saving Pennies At The Expense of Living How You Wish Now. Zdenek and Madonna probably don’t run in the same circles, but they do have one thing in common: Neither one believes in just saving pennies and not enjoying life. While Madonna was hoping for some bling in her ‘80s hit song “Material Girl,” Zdenek says go ahead and buy that pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks. It is necessary in your life to enjoy the things that make you happy, just as long as you continue to make smart decisions on bigger issues that affect your future wealth so that you can live the way you want for the rest of your life.
• Look High And Low. There are plenty of overlooked places where people find opportunities for increased cash flow. Those include proper income tax planning, structuring debt property, finding a better job, taking full advantage of company benefits, leasing vs buying, running your business more effectively, managing property and casualty insurance effectively and many more.
“I want to educate people on how to make the best financial choices for themselves and their loved ones, 100 percent of the time,” Zdenek says. “In doing this, they are empowered to live the lives they wish, now and in the future.”

His book, “Master Your Cash Flow,” (www.MasterYourCashFlowBook.com) shows readers how to determine the wealth they need and then find additional cash flow and, if saved, build wealth sooner or have more wealth to live the lifestyle they desire now and forever.

Leave A Lasting Legacy In This World While You Are Here And After You Leave

While most of us will not be world-class Olympic athletes, Oscar-winning movie stars or generals who command great battles, we still have a desire to leave some type of mark on this world.
For many people that desired action is leaving a legacy while financially securing themselves, their families, their causes and charitable organizations long into the future.
Patrick Renn (www.patrickrenn.com) has found a way to help others leave a legacy and reveals those strategies in his best-selling book, Finding Your Money’s Greater Purpose.
"Each of us, through our contributions as volunteers and benefactors, holds the power to change the course of society for the better," says Renn.
Renn suggests a number of ways to build a legacy and keep contributing to society even after we have left this world.
  • Charitable Gift Annuity. This is a contract between a donor and a qualified charity that can supplement retirement income and also give you a tax deduction. The annuity involves the donor making a gift to the charity and, in exchange the charity provides the donor with a lifetime fixed income stream.
  • Give a gift of stock. Let’s say you have a gain on a stock and want to give that to charity. To do so, you could sell it, pay the tax and give what’s left or you could first make the stock itself a gift. This gives you the full benefit of the gift as a tax deduction, and you avoid paying the capital gains tax.
  • Donate your house. You can make a commitment to leave your house to a charity after your death. By doing this, you can live in the house the rest of your life and receive a tax deduction. In all likelihood the charity will sell the house after you die and the money from the sale will end up as your final donation.
  • Leave your retirement plan to charity. Leaving money to a charity from your retirement plan could save a lot of headaches. A retirement plan is one of the worst assets to die with because of the taxes associated with it. Leaving the plan to a charity could be the most tax-efficient strategy for that money.
  • Give your family choices with a donor advised fund. You can leave your family a say in where your charitable donations are going via a donor advised fund. Family members could recommend where money from the fund is going now and after you’re gone.
  • Donate a life insurance policy. Insurance policies that no longer serve their purpose are a good place to look for charitable opportunities. Many people have outdated life insurance and have now outgrown their original need. Instead of cashing the policy in or just dropping it, why not consider donating it?
"I feel that part of my mission is to show people that they can take advantage of certain financial procedures if only they know about them," says Renn, founder and president of Renn Wealth Management Group. "With a bit of planning, such procedures could benefit them and the causes and institutions they care about."

Patrick Renn, author of Finding Your Money’s Greater Purpose, has been a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM for more than 35 years and holds a bachelor’s degree from in business administration from Villanova University and an MBA from Loyola College. Wearable Art

This is a post written by Joyce P, with her granddaughter B.

Today I want to introduce a new company, one that I have really enjoyed getting to work with Colortime Crafts.  I am going to go out on a limb and say that those of you with children and grandchildren are definitely going to love their wearable art as much as I have! After you see this shirt, "Camping Survivor", you are probably going to want to run over to their site and check it out for yourself.

The t-shirt is great for those who camp quite often, or maybe your children go to summer camp, or you might have one that just loves coloring. B loves camping in the "cabinet" as she calls it so this was a fun shirt for her to color.

As you can see, the design is snappy and very bold and depending on what colors you use to color it in, it can be adapted for either girls or boys. They instruct you to put cardboard in between the layer of the shirt so the colors don't bleed through, which is definitely needed. B had a lot of fun opening her box and wanted to get started right away. Again, her only wish was that there were more colors available to use. But as you can see, she enjoyed her time coloring it. Please be careful with the ink as it will stay wet for a while and come off on the fingers, washes off easily but you don't want it being transferred to other clothing and then it will not come off.

Colortime offers many different styles and designs including tote bags, pillowcases and backpacks. Lots of options to choose from and I know you all will want to go take a look at the Colortime Crafts website.

About the Book

Book: Behind the Scenes
Author: Jen Turano
Genre: Inspirational Historical Romance
Release Date: April, 2017
Miss Permilia Griswold may have been given the opportunity of a debut into New York high society, but no one warned her she wasn’t guaranteed to “take.” After spending the last six years banished to the wallflower section of the ballroom, she’s finally putting her status on the fringes of society to good use by penning anonymous society gossip columns under the pseudonym “Miss Quill.”
Mr. Asher Rutherford has managed to maintain his status as a reputable gentleman of society despite opening his own department store. While pretending it’s simply a lark to fill his time, he has quite legitimate reasons for needing to make his store the most successful in the country.
When Permilia overhears a threat against the estimable Mr. Rutherford, she’s determined to find and warn the man. Disgruntled at a first meeting that goes quite poorly and results in Asher not believing her, she decides to take matters into her own hands, never realizing she’ll end up at risk as well.
As Asher and Permilia are forced to work together and spend time away from the spotlight of society, perhaps there’s more going on behind the scenes than they ever could have anticipated. . . .

MY REVIEW- Jen Turano is one of those authors who will have you laughing so hard you want to cry. Her books are full of quirky characters who are tirelessly working at staying out of trouble, all while struggling not to fall in love with each other. And when you mix in some mystery, a pinch of intrigue and a dash of witty dialogue? Well, it can make quite an impression on your mind.

This is book one in a new series, Apart from the Crowd, and gets you off to a good start. Permilia and Asher make for a funny couple and at times I felt like I was watching an old Cary Grant movie, with the constant battle of words between the two of them. There is more romance involved than her previous novels, but still an incredibly fun story. Loved it!

Jen Turano, author of nine books and two novellas, is a graduate of the University of Akron with a degree in clothing and textiles. She is a member of ACFW and lives in a suburb of Denver, Colorado. Visit her website at www.jenturano.com.

Interview With Jen Turano

  1. What is the funniest thing that has ever happened to you personally?
Amusing things happen to me all the time, but I think my favorite was back in college when I was a lifeguard. You see, there’s a lifeguard code – You will be cool at all times, especially when you’re sitting in a lifeguard chair, twirling your whistle exactly so, and, you know…looking cool. So, there I was, in my black lifeguard bathing suit – swinging my whistle. It was an unusually hot day, so I’d angled my umbrella exactly right as I watched the diving-board section. Now, I know this might come as a surprise, but being a lifeguard at the neighborhood pool isn’t exactly thrilling. It’s rare that anything exciting happens, and that particular day was no exception…until a large gust of wind came out of nowhere and the umbrella took it upon itself to close – right over me. And because it was now really gusty, the umbrella then lifted up, taking me with it right off the chair and into the depths of the deep end of the pool. From all accounts, it was quite the sight. First, there I was, swinging my whistle and looking groovy. Then all you could see were my legs flailing about as the umbrella covered the rest of me, and then…I was plummeting toward the pool, hit the water with the umbrella over me, and promptly sank. Obviously I managed to get out of the umbrella, but in the process, part of my bathing suit came off, and…well, that’s a story for another day.

  1. What is your favorite book from your childhood?
“Andrew Henry’s Meadow.” It was actually my little brother’s book, gotten from one of those book of the month clubs, but I loved it. I recently found a copy on an e-site and ordered it, and it’s just as delightful today as it was back in my childhood.

  1. Who does the cooking and cleaning in your house when you are on a deadline?
I don’t actually cook much even when I’m not on deadline, so that’s not really an issue. Al and I do a lot of salads or throw some chicken on the grill. We also have a lot of grocery stores that have wonderful deli and gourmet foods, so we get a lot of things there. As for cleaning, I’m one of those neurotic people who can’t work without everything being in place, so I do a lot of tidying up before I go to bed. And, because I do some of my best thinking when I clean, I’ve been known to abandon my writing when I get stuck and pick up a mop or cleaning rag, which means my house is rarely a disaster since I need to get unstuck a lot.

  1. Where is your favorite place to write?
I do the majority of my writing in my office, although I will occasionally take a pad of paper and a pen outside to handwrite when I get bored of my office or it’s a really nice day and I don’t feel like being trapped inside. It’s not that my office is my favorite place to write, it’s more that my writing is my job and I’m more focused on that writing when I approach it as such.

  1. What is your favorite part of the writing process?
I really like when characters and new story ideas begin to fester. That normally happens when I’m in the midst of another series. By the time I’m done with whatever series I’m working on, the next series is pretty firmly set in my mind, which means I can jump right in as I wait for edits on recently completed work. My absolute favorite part of writing, though, is when I turn in the very final edit on a book and don’t see it again until it comes out in print. Although, I must admit, I’ve never, not once, read one of my books after it has gone to print. Seems rather pointless since I do always know how the book is going to end.

  1. Why did you choose the timeframe or setting this book is written in?
I’ve been wanting to set a book during Alva Vanderbilt’s famous costume ball of March, 1883, for years. Since I decided to slowly travel through the Gilded Age, I just reached 1883 on my plot timeline, so knew I was finally going to get to throw some characters into the very midst of Alva’s ball. It was a blast to write, loved going back to all my books on this particular ball and seeing the pictures, and only wish the Vanderbilt house at 660 Fifth Avenue was still standing so I could visit it in person to visualize the splendors located inside a little more clearly.

  1. What inspires you?
I think like most writers, I simply get inspired by the world around me. I love to people watch, and I love to imagine all sorts of outlandish scenarios as I do that watching. I also get inspired by reading the headlines of the daily papers, and by the research books I read. I also love to look through old photographs of the Gilded Age, and became intrigued with Alva Vanderbilt’s ball when I saw a picture of a young lady, Miss Kate Strong, with a stuffed cat on her head and wearing a choker necklace with the name Puss engraved on it. That was all it took for me to investigate the Vanderbilt ball further, delighted to discover it truly was a ball that only comes along every blue moon.
