Advertising Agencies

As a blogger I look at my blog as a job. This helps to keep my hours down to where they should and it also keeps me from feeling guilty when I feel like I am on the computer a lot. But this also means that I do marketing and advertising for my blog. Yep:) I try to use different advertising whether this means using an Advertising Agency or using my own way of getting my blog out there.

I personally like the idea of using an advertising agency. They have so many ways and abilities to get your company out on the radar, whether this is a blog or a small business. They do all the advertising for you! You pay their fee and then they do the work that you would have to do. I like this aspect of it. You don't have to do the work to get your company out in the eye of the public. I do not use an advertising agency right now but just looking at the website has pushed me more towards that road.

I have not used this website. All thoughts are 100% mine.

Cruising, Galveston, the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas, Mexico. One day it will be Hawaii and Australia, but probably not the same year. Helping other authors become published really floats her boat, with fifteen signing their first book contract after her mentoring. Three of her books have been awarded the Carol Award silver pins from American Christian Fiction Writers and she has received the ACFW Mentor of the Year award at their national conference. The high point of her day is receiving feedback from her readers, especially people whose lives have been changed by her books. And she loves chocolate, especially dark chocolate.

Her last release is Love Finds You in Golden, New Mexico, from Summerside Press recently won the Will Rogers Medallion Award for excellence in publishing western fiction. Lena is currently under two 3-book contracts with Charisma House/Realms.

In addition to her writing, Lena is a frequent speaker at women’s groups, writers groups, and at both regional and national conferences. She has spoken in six states and internationally.

Lena has an active web presence on Shoutlife, Facebook, Twitter, Goodreads, and with her internationally connected blog where she interviews other authors and promotes their books. You can check out her books and find out more about her on her blog.

Near her eighteenth birthday, Margaret Lenora Caine finds a chest hidden in the attic containing proof that she's adopted. The spoiled daughter of wealthy merchants in Seattle, she feels betrayed by her real parents and by the ones who raised her. But mystery surrounds her new discovery, and when Maggie uncovers another family secret, she loses all sense of identity. Leaving her home in Seattle, Washington, Maggie strikes out to find her destiny. Will Charles Stanton, who's been in love with her for years, be able to help her discover who she really is?

If you would like to read the first chapter of Maggie's Journey, go HERE.

MY REVIEW-I have read one other book by Lena Dooley and I personally loved it. I was hoping this one would be as good. It was even better in my opinion!! This is the first in a new series and I can't wait until the others come out:) I really loved Maggie from the beginning and Georgia and Agatha were nice characters as well. Charles I had a harder time liking. He was just one of those people that you don't really care for:) In the end I liked him better, it just took longer. Maggie's father was such a dear. He sees a problem in the family and takes the steps to bring his wife back to him. Overall this was an excellent book and would make a great gift for the holidays for those who like a good historical novel. Don't forget to watch for the next ones in this series!!

Interview with Vannetta Chapman and Book Giveaway!

Well, I have to tell you, with the holidays coming up I am searching for gifts. My family loves to read and I know that books make great gifts!! So, if you are searching for gifts, you should love this one:) I have an interview with a lovely author and she has also offered to give a copy of her new book, Falling to Pieces. This is a mystery that sounds so intriguing. I already have it on my wish list. Make sure to read through the interview and then follow the directions for entering the giveaway.
Thank you for being with us today, Vannetta!!! How long have you known you wanted to be an author?
Only since I started my master's degree, when I was 36 years old. I've ALWAYS been a reader though ... always had a book in my hand.

Can you tell me a little bit about your newest book?
Sure! It's an Amish murder mystery, but more than that it's a story about the difference between casual friends and real friends and why we need both in our lives.
In the Amish community of Shipshewana, two women—one Amish, one English—reluctantly join forces for a short-term business venture. Neither is looking for friendship, but when the town's newspaper editor is murdered, and an unexpected prime suspect is identified, the women form an unlikely alliance to solve the mystery.

When a reader gets done with your book, what do you want them to come away with?
The knowledge that we can all find that sort of friendship, no matter where we are in our lives or where we live. God wants that sort of relationship in our life.

Is there a place you have always wanted to visit? A vacation spot, historical monument, overseas, etc?
I'm a travel bug, so I like to travel everywhere.

If you could have dinner with 2 people, who would they be?
my dad and my mom (dad passed about 14 years ago)

What one event would you love to be at? Historical or future?
Hmmm ... I'm going with historical. My grandfather was Native American, and I'd love to have been there when he was born, in his community.

Do you have a favorite hobby?
Lots! I hike, garden, sew, kayak ... : )
Is there something about you most people wouldn't know?
I'm afraid of tall bridges ...

Do you have any suggestions for the aspiring writer?
Write, write, write ... then when you're tired read, read, read.

Any last thoughts for your readers?
I'd like to thank all the fabulous people who have given this new writer a chance. It's been amazing the mail I've received and the folks who have driven long distances to have books signed. Readers are amazing!
And how can they connect with you?
They can find me through my webpage ( or on facebook ( Also I post to my blog 3 times a week (

So, I told you it sounded interesting, didn't I? An Amish murder mystery? Now another thing I enjoyed is that is is in Shipshewana. Anyone else heard of this town? Review of Book of Dreams + Giveaway!!

Today I have a book that I was pretty excited about reviewing. Davis Bunn is one of my favorite authors and this is the newest book he has published. I am part of a blog tour so there is also a book giveaway!! That's right:) One of my readers will get their hands on this excellent book. So, read below my review and make sure to get your entries in. You don't want to miss this book!!

How does God use dreams and visions to communicate with people?

For Dr. Elena Burroughs, life is divided into two chapters—before and after the death of her husband. Today marks the point that her span of being a wife is equal to her span of being a widow. Even her success as a psychologist and her worldwide acclaim for a book on the interpretation of dreams is dimmed by an unspoken “If only.”

Then a new patient arrives, one so private only her first name is given. Impeccably dressed and escorted by two bodyguards, Sandra recounts a frightening series of recurrent nightmares. Elena agrees to consider her case more carefully, convinced that something ominous may be at work here.

Elena’s interpretation of Sandra’s dreams confirms that, indeed, the new patient and her family confront a powerful global network of dangerous forces. As the story unfolds, they face a key question of the Christian life: How do you understand and fulfill the will of God?

Bio: Davis Bunn did his undergraduate studies at Wake Forest University in North Carolina, where he earned honors degrees in both economics and psychology. He then travelled to London, where he continued this dual approach, earning a Master of Science degree in both industrial psychology and international economics. After teaching at a Swiss university for a year, he entered into a business career that took him to more than 40 countries in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.

Davis came to faith at age 28, and began writing two weeks later. Before that point, he had never written anything longer than a business report. He wrote for nine years and completed seven novels before the first was accepted for publication. That book was The Presence, released by Bethany House in 1991. Davis and his wife, Isabella, make their home in Florida for some of each year, and spend the rest near Oxford, England, where they each teach and write. Visit Davis at

MY REVIEW-This was an interesting book. It deals with a lot of different things but Davis Bunn pulls off the whole plot deliciously! There is so much mystery in these pages I read through it in two days:) And I also put off some of my other review books, so if I am late on posting another review, I will send them this post:D JK! But it did pull me from my other duties. If you are the type of person who likes a good novel that makes you think, this is your book!! Pick up a copy today!!

Readers, I have been offered to give away a copy of this book through my blog. Get your entries in below.

Tell me if you have ever had a dream that you thought was a premonition of something coming to pass. This must be done or the extra entries will not count. You must leave an email in one of your comments so I can reach you if you are the winner.

6 Product Giveaway!!!

Beauty Goes Back to Basics

Trinity of Youth Introduces Lactic Acid-Based BrilliantFx Body Serum to Combat Dry, Cracked Skin – Retail price $39.99

Introducing BrilliantFx Body Serum

BrilliantFx contains a high percentage of lactic acid at an effective pH and incorporates this key ingredient in a formula that is unlike any anti-aging body product on the market today. “After noticing a void in the market for an effective anti-aging body treatment and potent moisturizer for dry, cracked or aging skin, we embarked on our mission to create this revolutionary body serum,” explains Diane Zokle, co-founder of Trinity of Youth. “By using naturally occurring medicinal agents that have been used for thousands of years, we can now offer our unique mixture that both alleviates dry, cracked skin and improves the appearance of aging skin on the body.”

In addition to lactic acid, BrilliantFx Body Serum is specially formulated with the powerful herbal ingredient arnica montana commonly known as wolf’s bane or leopard’s bane, a European flowering plant containing an active secondary plant metabolite sesquiterpene lactones, which acts as an anti-inflammatory agent. Flavanoids and essential oils theoretically act with the sesquiterpene lactones in Arnica montana to induce its therapeutic effects.

The third distinctive key ingredient in the BrilliantFx Body Serum is vitamin E. In terms of skin health and skin care, vitamin E benefits are numerous. In fact, skin care products that contain vitamin e have become an essential part of healthy skin care. Because of its antioxidant activity, vitamin e is vital in protecting skin cells from ultra violet light, pollution, drugs, and other elements that produce cell damaging free radicals. The vitamin e benefits for healthy skin care also include its ability to regulate vitamin a in the body, which itself is important for healthy skin. It helps skin look younger by reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Also, free radicals are believed to play an important role in skin aging and therefore the antioxidant activity is quite valuable for this skin problem.

BrilliantFx Body Serum is the first exfoliating and moisturizing body serum to introduce a skin-healing mixture of ingredients all in one bottle—lactic acid, Arnica montana, and vitamin E.

Test Drive The New High Performance Men’s Skin Care Line

WWW.FACELUBE.COM –Retail Cost $245.00

Even though much ado has been made about “metrosexuals” and the rise of male plastic surgery, when it comes to an everyday skin care regimen, for the most part, “men are from Mars and women are from Venus.” The average man does not want or need a pile of products to reap the benefits of a properly maintained masculine face. FaceLube's high performance 3 step system includes a Cleaner, Treatment and Protectant. It's simple and precise - bing, bam, boom, am/pm and you're done! Because men and women age differently, men have different needs and preferences than women. FaceLube® gets the critical fact that for men, proper face care is not just about looking young - it's about looking good and staying on the fast track.

Think about the finish on your car. If you keep it free of old build-up it will look good year

after year. And when you pick the right cleaner, you won't strip it so much that you damage the clear coat finish. You wouldn't use a tire cleaner on your fine leather seats, think twice before using soap or all-purpose body wash all over the most delicate part of a man’s face.

This anti-aging cleaner is a powerhouse of concentrated natural organic plant derived complex and high tech manufacturing protocols. It offers deep, effective and gentle cleaning of surface oils, impurities and dirt and helps to restore perfect moisture, balance and tone and is an integral part of proper men's grooming regimen. Free from controversial chemicals like Sodium Lauryl Sulfate

A man’s face builds up dirt, grime and dead cells. The Cleaner breaks up embedded dirt, grime and thick skin debris. It soothes, nourishes, tightens and conditions. Masculine facial skin has very different needs and texture than his hair and the rest of his body parts. Common soaps strip his face of natural moisture, leaving it dry and prone to wrinkles.

HOW TO USE: 3.4 oz / 100 ml. Concentrated.

About dime size per use, twice daily am/pm. For all skin types.

STEP 2 TREATMENT (1.5 OZ): MSRP $105.00

Treatment is like a high-end synthetic fluid for your car. Think about a car just after an automatic transmission fluid exchange. The cleaner helped to loosen the dirt and grime that built-up in the torque converter, and flushed them out along with all that oxidized used fluid. Now that the transmission is clean, you'd want to top it off with fresh new fluid - the basic nutrient that keeps your transmission shifting in high gear.

The FaceLube® Treatment is a Hi-Potency Concentrated Ultra Super Luxe Caviar Complex and Natural Bio-Peptides that work to activate cell metabolism, begin repairs on past damage from environmental assaults and stress to help revitalize and firm tired skin and defend against further damage.

WHY IT WORKS: Once a man has gotten rid of the “gunk” on his face through cleansing, the face needs nutrition. The Treatment minimizes fine lines and wrinkles by helping to restore the skin’s natural balance, rebuild collagen and elasticity, repair past damage and strengthen it against further environmental and free radical assaults.

WHAT'S IN IT & WHY: DNA-Marine/Caviar Extract – Anti-aging, anti-wrinkle, revitalizing, firming and regenerating, renews skin elasticity. It’s the ultimate deep penetrating nutrient for younger looking skin.

HOW TO USE: 1.5 fl. oz / 45 ml. Highly Concentrated. About pea size per use, twice daily AM/PM. For all skin types.

STEP 3 PROTECTANT (1.5 OZ): MSRP $115.00

Think of Protectant like a high-performance additive package, or booster for your car's engine that works in conjunction with the fresh new motor oil that went into your car after an engine flush. The FaceLube® Protectant is cutting edge anti-aging technology that minimizes wrinkles, firms, strengthens skin structure, protects collagen and elastin fibers. Moisture enriched, ultra smooth, non-oily, protects against premature aging. Healing, soothing, and nourishing.

WHY IT WORKS: The Protectant works in conjunction with Treatment. The active ingredients in the Protectant are complementary to the Treatment. The Protectant helps further strengthen the skin's inner structure and seals in moisture.

WHAT'S IN IT & WHY: Matrixyl 3000® - Collagen production, anti-wrinkle, firms and lifts skin. Venuceane® - Deep sea extract, anti-aging, anti-oxidant, hydrating, prevents signs of photo-aging. Ocean Gold® - Natural mineral nutrient, protects collagen, firms, strengthens, anti-oxidant. Imperata Cylindrica Root Extract - Natural moisturizer promotes healing, highly hydrating, high in potassium, optimizes and reinforces collagen synthesis and moisture absorption. Caffeine - firming, detoxifying. Allantoin - Heals, protects, softens, conditions.

HOW TO USE: 1.5 fl. oz / 45 ml. Highly Concentrated. About pea size per use, twice daily AM/PM. For all skin types

Introducing EnvyDerm, Effective Eyelash Growth & Conditioning Serum for Fuller, Longer and Stronger Lashes – Retail Cost: $99.95

Step aside, full lips and tan skin. These days, it's all about drama in the eyes. A few years ago, we might have wanted plump, bee-stung lips like Angelina Jolie, suffering through stinging lip glosses and collagen injections for it. But these days the focus has shifted to another “It” facial feature – eyelashes. Stars like Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Lopez and Penelope Cruz are batting their way down the red carpet with these feathery eye fringes.

The trend of cosmetic products with long-term benefits has grown over the years, as consumers continue to seek products that work together to enhance their appearance long after being applied. From acne fighting makeup to moisturizing lipsticks, consumers want continuous benefits that have quick results and longevity. We all know the wonders of mascara well; in fact, most of us feel naked without it. But breakage, thinning and damaging of the lashes are mascara's little known drawbacks. Fortunately, EnvyDerm, a groundbreaking new nonprescription formula eyelash growth serum is here for our eyebatting rescue.

“Through meticulous research and development, scientific advances, professional expertise and the understanding of a customer’s well-being, EnvyDerm is changing the world of beauty,” says Nadia Smith, President and Founder of EnvyDerm. “At EnvyDerm, we provide consumers with the best eyelash care products to enhance their natural beauty.”

How to Use EnvyDerm?

The EnvyDerm applicator is very similar to a liquid eyeliner applicator. One should apply the stimulating serum once a day before bedtime along the upper and lower lash lines. EnvyDerm does not disrupt the daily application of make-up or other skincare routines. Can be used on brows as well.

What is in EnvyDerm?

EnvyDerm is formulated with active natural ingredients such as bioavailable lipo-oligopeptides that stimulate keratin genes. Powerful SymPeptide technology lengthens and strengthens natural lashes. EnvyDerm uses vitamins, minerals and amino acids to moisturize and nourish lashes and brows.

When Can I Expect to See Results?

One should begin to see the lash line becoming thicker, fuller and healthier looking in as little as 2 weeks! In a clinical study, users saw a 25 percent increase in eyelash length during this period. EnvyDerm will continue to prove results over time if used on a consistent basis.

Introducing Dermatologist Dr. Paul Friedman’s New Book

Beautiful Skin Revealed: The Ultimate Guide to Better Skin

An Insider’s Guide to Healthy Skin – Retail Cost $59.95

The marketing and sale of cleansers, moisturizers, cosmeceuticals, and cosmetics is a multibillion-dollar industry. How do you navigate through the maze of products and promises? Which combination of treatment options, potions and lotions is the real deal?

In an effort to separate fact from fiction, Board-Certified Dermatologist Dr. Paul Friedman, has co-authored the book Beautiful Skin Revealed: The Ultimate Guide to Better Skin.” This comprehensive book offers an expert’s insider view on common skin conditions and treatments that really work, in addition to offering tips on how to maximize the time with your dermatologist. According to Dr. Friedman, “The book is grounded in science and explains why conditions occur. Using before and after photos and real patient testimonials, Beautiful Skin Revealed” shows readers the incredible results made possible through the latest treatment options.” Below, Dr. Friedman offers a sneak-peek from his book, available for purchase at and

The book contains 12 chapters including sections on: Complexion, Acne, Wrinkles, Flusing, Birthmarks, Eyes, Leg Veins, Skin Cancer, Scars and Stretch Marks, General Dermatology, Products, and finally Choosing a doctor.

Acne – Not Just an Issue for Teens

Blame it on stress, the environment, or hormones - the truth is that acne is not limited to teenagers. “It may surprise you to learn that one in five adults between the ages of 25 and 44 experiences acne. In fact, some find their acne is worse in adulthood than it was during puberty,” says Dr. Friedman. In his book, Dr. Friedman offers solutions for current acne breakouts as well as for scars caused by past acne blemishes.

  • Lasers. “In the past five years lasers have been found in multiple studies to reduce not only acne lesions but also improve acne scars.” When considering laser treatment, Dr. Friedman suggests reviewing all of the options available to become an informed participant in the initial consultation with your dermatologist. “A great option for patients experiencing both acne lesions and acne scarring is the 1450-nm diode laser by Candela®.”

Rosacea: Red All Over

“Notable flushing, diffuse redness, and visible facial blood vessels may point to one of the most under diagnosed, yet prevalent and frustrating skin conditions affecting adults. It is called rosacea,” Dr. Friedman explains. He notes that although the exact cause of rosacea is unknown, there are several treatment options available.

  • “Pulsed-Dye Laser Treatments target broken blood vessels and background redness. Redness caused by rosacea responds very well to a series of laser treatments. Since rosacea is a chronic condition, periodic maintenance treatments are required after the initial series.”

Leg Veins: Reveal Simply Beautiful Legs

Summertime clothing can draw attention to the legs. Visible veins on the legs are a common concern affecting 80% of women in the United States. Spider veins can become more prominent as we age and with jobs requiring prolonged standing.

  • “Sclerotherapy, which is best for the treatment of spider veins and reticular veins, can be combined with the long-pulsed 1064-nm Nd:YAG laser. Patients who want to improve the appearance of their legs need to have the treatment about three to six months ahead of shorts and swimsuit season,” according to Dr. Friedman.

Injections for Wrinkles without the Pain

“Today’s experienced physicians can help patients achieve varying degrees of improvement,” Dr. Friedman notes. “The best doctors will insist on creating a natural look.”

  • Hyaluronic acid fillers mixed w/lidocaine are one of the most exciting new developments Dr. Friedman offers his patients. “Now, injections for fine lines and deeper wrinkles are given in combination with lidocaine, a numbing agent typically used at the dentist’s office. The result is less discomfort from the injection process.”

Notable Breakthroughs: Fraxel re:store DUAL Laser for Actinic Keratosis

Actinic Keratosis, or AKs, are common precancerous lesions caused by sun exposure, affecting between 11% and 26% of people in the U.S. over the age of 40. According to Dr. Friedman, “The Fraxel re:store DUAL Laser is a potential option to replace traditional treatments for AKs such as freezing through liquid nitrogen. This high tech laser allows for a larger area of the skin to be treated at each visit. Patients have also been pleased with the added benefits they notice, such as improvement of their skin texture and pigmentation.”

Dr. Friedman notes, “Good skin requires maintenance. With the help of a daily sunblock, a good moisturizer, and a topical retinoid, healthy skin has an even surface that glows. Cosmeceuticals and cosmetics can enhance the foundation achieved with a solid skincare regimen and dermatologic procedures.”

New Book Releasing, Real Moms Love to Eat!!

Hey everyone! I wanted to tell you about a recent book I found out about. It is releasing this winter and I for one already have it on my wish list:) Beth Aldrich is the author of the book, Real Moms Love to Eat. It sounds wonderful and I can't wait for it to arrive!! There is a whole website set up for Real Moms Love to Eat and I really enjoyed browsing it for more info.

Real Moms Love to Eat is divided into three sections and they are all very handy. The thing I like most about this is the real moms aspect. It is made by a real mom for real mothers. This is simple information with a plan for you to be able to eat the foods you want but without the guilt. I love it!!

Real Moms Love to Eat also has another interesting part. I checked out their Food Affairiate Program and I think you will all enjoy hearing about it. This is basically a party/review program for the upcoming book release. You can enter and get prizes, they look real good, and you get entries by posting a review of the book and joining in on the blog tour. If you are a blogger, I would urge you to check out this part of the program.

I suggest looking at the website. Beth has given some real information that is very useful. She knows how to keep your attention, even when other things are going on and the kids are hungry:) There is also an option of pre-ordering Beth's book on her website if you are interested. There is so much on there to look at! Believe me, I went to look for my post and ended up spending more time on there than it took to write the post. Definitely a big help to moms!

Now, you can check out the website, sign up for the Food Affairiate Program, follow Beth on Twitter or follow the site on Facebook. No you don't get any extra points here but I think the information is very useful.

I wrote this blog post while participating in the SocialMoms and Beth Aldrich - Real Moms Love to Eat blogging program, for a chance to get 3,000 My SocialMoms Rewards points. For more information on how you can participate, click here.

But when the threats escalate and security on the ranch is breached, it becomes clear this isn’t the work of a single suspect—it’s part of a sophisticated plan that reaches deeper and higher than anyone imagined. And only Ash and Meghan can put the pieces together before it’s too late.

MY REVIEW-WOW! That was my first thought as I jumped right into the mystery in this book. This opens with a bang and doesn't stop until the end. I personally loved Meghan! She is a very strong lady but still has some vulnerability to her. I like the way she thinks and works. Ash was harder to like. Especially at first:) He has one of those "everything will be done my way" attitudes but he softens along the way. I loved the debate between him and Pepper. They go at each other like siblings:) Lindsay is a teenager who is at the point of not knowing what to do or who to trust. Meghan really helps things with her. The mystery is great and the suspense is at the top! Excellent book.

Rosetta Translation Services.

Hey everyone! It has been a busy week for me and now things should be slowing down somewhat. I don't know about you, but I like just browsing the web. There are soo many things you can find and this one that showed up recently is something I thought that might be of interest to some of my readers. Do you ever have need of a translation service? I know sometimes I get to where I need a translation for something I am doing. Whether it is a phrase in a book, an email that comes in, etc.

This translation company is actually headquartered in London. I was amazed when I heard that! You don't often hear of translation companies that specialize in this type of work in London. I was thinking it would be local but it is not. I browsed through the website and I have to tell you, I was pretty impressed with what I saw.

If you are ever in need of a translation agency, I would suggest checking this company out. It looks to be very professional and the website is great to browse for information!! I got some help just from looking at the site. I will be keeping this site in mind for any translation service I need in the future.

Outdoor Equipment

I know that summer is over and fall is heading out. But now is still a good time to get in some outside time in the yard. I like browsing to see different shops and what they have available. I thought I would show you some of the things I found recently while shopping online for outside furniture and equipment.

I like to have a lot of different chairs outside. And one I found that I like are the Adirondack chairs. These are very nifty and well made. They will stand up to a lot of weather. I am hard pressed to pick a favorite between them and the plain old fashioned picnic tables. There is just something about those picnic tables that bring back memories!

We also like going to the park but we have somewhat made our back yard like a playground. We could really use the park benches. They would really make the yard look like a park! In addition to our playground equipment, we would be the envy of the neighborhood children:) I think our kids would love it as well! These are just a few of the things I found and I hope you enjoyed them.

I have not purchased from this site. All thoughts are 100% mine.

MY REVIEW-I first read Laurie Alice Eakes when I reviewed The Lady in the Mist. This was a wonderful book and I am really looking forward to the next one in that series. I didn't realize this is a totally different series!! It is very good and I only had one thing I didn't care for. It was somewhat minor but not something I expected. My favorite character was Lydia. She soo wants to be in charge and feels like she runs everything. If it wasn't for her, things would just fall apart. I know how that feels sometimes;) I liked Christien but I felt he was somewhat deceptive. Again, the book titles tells a lot about this book!! There was so much mystery and suspense in this book, I was racing through it and trying to figure out who was the blackmailer!! The one part I didn't care for was a part where it mentions her sister and the fiance are in the library room. They are both kissing and it mentions her buttons are somewhat undone. I know Laurie is trying to show how we need to be pure in our dating and courtship but this was a little bit much for me. Not used to this in my books:) The whole book was a great read! Wonderful plot and characters that make you feel like you know them. I am not a fan of regency books, but if there is a sequel, I will be on the lookout for it! Excellent novel by Laurie!

The Benefits of Juice Over Soda

I have recently signed up for a Slimdown Challenge and I am really hoping to lose some weight. In the meantime, I am really changing the way I eat and drink. One thing I have found to be a big help is in what I drink. I never realized the benefits if drinking juice over soda!! I actually had one person tell me that soda has the same amount of calories as juice. Which I had to go check out for myself. And in reality, it does have about the same, but you are getting so much more for your calories than just empty sugar and chemicals.

I now drink mainly water and juice. I like fruit juice and vegetable juice. And let me tell you, there is such a variety of juices out there! One that I had never heard of before was mangosteen juice. This is not something you normally hear about:) I love trying out new types of juices!

There are so many benefits that come from drinking juice. Especially over soda. You get all the healthy benefits and the pleasure of knowing you are not putting chemicals into your body. It is such a joy getting done with a meal and knowing I have given my body something good for it. This is something I urge you to do, especially with your children. Swap juice over soda and see how it helps them. I know some children are picky but there are soo many different types of juice you should be able to find one that your child enjoys:)

I am participating in a blogger campaign by Bucks2Blog and was
compensated. However, the views and opinions are my own.

CFBA Tour for Wonderland Creek by Lynn Austin

This week, the
Christian Fiction Blog Alliance
is introducing
Wonderland Creek
Bethany House (October 1, 2011)
Lynn Austin

For many years, Lynn Austin nurtured a desire to write but frequent travels and the demands of her growing family postponed her career. When her husband's work took Lynn to Bogota, Colombia, for two years, she used the B.A. she'd earned at Southern Connecticut State University to become a teacher. After returning to the U.S., the Austins moved to Anderson, Indiana, Thunder Bay, Ontario, and later to Winnipeg, Manitoba.

It was during the long Canadian winters at home with her children that Lynn made progress on her dream to write, carving out a few hours of writing time each day while her children napped. Lynn credits her early experience of learning to write amid the chaos of family life for her ability to be a productive writer while making sure her family remains her top priority.

Extended family is also very important to Austin, and it was a lively discussion between Lynn, her mother, grandmother (age 98), and daughter concerning the change in women's roles through the generations that sparked the inspiration for her novel Eve's Daughters.

Along with reading, two of Lynn's lifelong passions are history and archaeology. While researching her Biblical fiction series, Chronicles of the Kings, these two interests led her to pursue graduate studies in Biblical Backgrounds and Archaeology through Southwestern Theological Seminary. She and her son traveled to Israel during the summer of 1989 to take part in an archaeological dig at the ancient city of Timnah. This experience contributed to the inspiration for her novel Wings of Refuge.

Lynn resigned from teaching to write full-time in 1992. Since then she has published twelve novels. Five of her historical novels have won Christy Awards in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2008, and 2009 for excellence in Christian Fiction. And two of her inspirational fiction books were chosen by Library Journal for their top picks in 2003, and 2005. One of Lynn's novels has been made into a movie for the Hallmark Channel, starring actress Shirley Jones. Ms Jones received a 2006 Emmy Award nomination for her portrayal of Aunt Batty in the film.

Alice Grace Ripley lives in a dream world, her nose stuck in a book. But happily-ever-after life she's planned on suddenly falls apart when her boyfriend, Gordon, breaks up with her, accusing her of living in a world of fiction instead of the real world. Then to top it off, Alice loses her beloved job at the library because of cutbacks due to the Great Depression.

Fleeing small-town gossip, Alice heads to the mountains of eastern Kentucky to deliver five boxes of donated books to the library in the tiny coal-mining village of Acorn. Dropped off by her relatives, Alice volunteers to stay for two weeks to help the librarian, Leslie McDougal.

But the librarian turns out to be far different than she anticipated--not to mention the four lady librarians who travel to the remote homes to deliver the much-desired books. While Alice is trapped in Acorn against her will, she soon finds that real-life adventure and myster--and especially romance--are far better than her humble dreams could have imagined.

If you would like to read the first chapter of Wonderland Creek, go HERE.

MY THOUGHTS-I had never been a big fan of Lynn Austin. I love a good mystery and her books are more of a daily life type book. But this one sounded really interesting so I figured I would try it out. I am soo glad I did! I ABSOLUTELY LOVED this book!! It has a very good plot and the characters are sooo lifelike. If you have never read a book by Lynn, this is the one to get! I strongly suggest you pick this one up at your local bookstore. Excellent novel!

Walden Online University

Have you ever gone searching for online universities? If you have, you know how many are out there. You never know what is going to show up. I recently found and I was pretty impressed by what I found while I was browsing their website. I have not used it, but what they offer is pretty interesting. I thought it might be of benefit to bring it to my readers and let you see what they have.

The first thing that caught my eye was Walden University's online degree programs. These are great! They have quite an array of programs that would cater to just about anybody. If you are looking for a university that allows you to work online, this is one that has a lot to choose from. Another thing I like is they have a lot of easy to browse pages. You can find answers to every question you could think of on there.

So, if you are interested, you can learn about Walden from their site. Use any of the links to find out more.

Interview w/Leigh Bale PLUS Giveaway!

Today I have an interview with a lovely author. She has written many books and I have personally read many and enjoyed them:) I think you will too. Leigh Bale has offered to give away an autographed copy of The Healing Place, which is a Golden Award Winner!!

How long have you known you wanted to be an author?

Since I was 8 years old. I used to make up plays and make my little girlfriends act them out with me in my back yard. We’d go around the neighborhood knocking on doors and selling tickets for .05 cents. My poor mom was roped into making popcorn and slushies in the freezer for us to serve. But we never had an ending, so the play just kind of petered out. I was young and didn’t think about needing a gratifying ending to tie up the loose ends. J
Later in high school, I wrote my first full-length book…all 44 pages of it. HAHAHA! At the time, that seemed like a long book to me. It was a Nancy Drew-type of mystery. I was mortified when one of the cute boys in my class picked it up and started reading it. I snatched it away so fast, but he told me it was “pretty good.” Didn’t matter. I was still embarrassed to have someone read my work. I’ve gotten much more tough skinned since those days.

Can you tell me a little bit about
your newest book?
The Forest Ranger’s Husband will officially be released October 18th from Harlequin Love Inspired. It’s the second in a series on forest rangers. My father is a retired forest ranger and has been consulting me on this new series. This is a poignant story about a hotshot wildfire fighter who loses one of his men and almost loses his own life in a wildfire. Tortured by survivor’s guilt, the experience changes his priorities and he returns home to the wife he abandoned for his high adrenaline career years earlier…and discovers he has a five year old son. You can imagine how his wife must feel. She’s a forest ranger who’s forced to work with her estranged husband, but she has trouble letting go of her anger and hurt and moving on in life. This book is about forgiving yourself, forgiving others, and putting your life back together after a traumatic event. It’s based on very real situations and I hope you like it.

When a reader gets done with your book, what do you want them to come away with?
First, I hope my readers feel good when they close my books. I hope they feel uplifted and gratified. And entertained by the fun story. Some of my books are real tear-jerkers, but I hope my readers come away from the experience believing in God and knowing that He loves them. And if the story hits close to home, I hope my readers are inspired never to give up on themselves or their family members. To keep working at their problems. To keep trying to be a better person.

Is there a place you have always wanted to visit? A vacation spot, historical monument, overseas, etc?
I always wanted to visit Europe…my husband and I finally did that for our 25th anniversary. Now, I want to go to South America. I wrote my Senior Thesis on the prestige of Aztec women, so I’d LOVE to go to Mexico and visit the Aztec ruins in the area. Someday, I’d like to do research on women’s issues in the libraries there, but I’d need to become more fluent in Spanish and get rid of my book deadlines first. I just don’t have time right now for that dream. But perhaps one day I will.

If you could have dinner with 2 people, who would they be?
Oh, it’s gonna have to be 3 people for me. My husband and parents. And then, you’re gonna have to let me add on a few more. My kids and their spouses and my grandkids, my brother and sister and their spouses and families, my grandmothers and Aunt Shirley, who are gone now, my other aunt and cousins. My husband’s sister and her family….maybe this isn’t what you expected. But seriously, there’s no one in this world I’d love to spend time with more than my family members. Yeah, it’d be fun to have dinner with the President of the United States, so I can advise him how to fix some of the problems in our nation. And I’d like to sit down and chat one-on-one with Susan Elizabeth Phillips (she is such a hoot), or Margaret Daley, Debbie Clopton, Missy Tippens, or any of the wonderful Harlequin Love Inspired authors (who are already my good friends), but family comes first for me. Period.

What one event would you love to be at? Historical or future?
I would love to have been a fly on the wall during the Treaty of Versailles. As the leaders of the world at the time carved up Europe, I wonder how many of them wondered about the actual every-day people their decisions would impact. I’d love to hear their discussion on Napoleon and the troubles of the day.
And then I’d like to attend a Thing meeting of the Vikings in the Danelaw. I’d like to hear some of their grievances and find out what Harald Grayhair was really like. And I’d like to discover the truth about why Rollo, the First Duke of Normandy (also called Grolf), really started raiding along the Vik. I’m thinking it was because he was a fourth son and had no lands to inherit, so he started raiding his own people to earn a living and King Harald banished him (which meant he’d be killed if he returned to Norway), so he went over to the beaches of Normandy where he made a deal with the French King to hold that area. And of course, William the Conqueror came through this line.
Sorry if you don’t have a clue what I’m talking about. I have a degree in history and love the topic. Some day, I hope to publish a historical on the national market.
Do you have a favorite hobby?
I’m a gardener. Any time I don’t spend working, writing, tending to my family and church responsibilities, you can find me out in my back yard. My husband and I have worked hard and we have a Better Homes and Garden back yard. Our daughter held her wedding reception there. It was beautiful. A very peaceful, quiet place to be by myself, even if my little dog Sophie and my hubby are with me.

Is there something about you most people wouldn't know?
I was a voracious Tom Boy up until I turned about age fifteen. I was the fastest runner in the school and no one but me could kick the ball off the black top at school. You know how when they’re choosing up sides for teams? Well, I was always picked first. Because they knew they’d win if they had me on their side. Although I’m short and getting old now, I was a natural athlete. I came by it honestly…it’s in my genes. (I won’t go into details here, but my father still to this day has records he set at his high school that have yet to be broken by any one else.)

Do you have any suggestions for the aspiring writer?
Write! Write! Write! Until your fingers are nubs. And then use your toes. Getting a website is okay. And even a Facebook account. But if you have no books written, you have nothing to sell. So what does the website and Facebook account matter then? Go to conferences if you can, even if it’s an inexpensive online workshop. Join a writer’s group and get involved with *nice* critique partners. (Notice I said nice, not wimpy. You don’t want a critique partner who will be mean or cruel, but neither do you want one who won’t bleed all over your manuscript. If they don’t do it, you might send it off to an editor, who won’t bother to tell you why it’s junk.)

And how can they connect with you?

Leave an encouraging comment for Leigh. I don't think we seriously understand what these authors go through to write a book. And then to put their baby out there and have people critique it and criticize it. I can't even imagine.
