The Bargain by Stephanie Reed Book #Review

Book one in the Plain City Peace series.

It’s 1971, and Betsie Troyer’s peaceful and predictable life is about to become anything but.
When their parents flee the Amish, nineteen-year-old Betsie and her seventeen-year-old sister Sadie are distraught. Under the dubious guidance of a doting aunt, the girls struggle to keep the secret, praying their parents will return before anyone learns the truth—a truth that may end all hopes of Betsie’s marriage to Charley Yoder.

MY THOUGHTS-If you all know me then you will remember that I am not a big fan of Amish books. I have found a few authors that I will read who make things interesting enough that I will read one. When I heard about this one I thought the plot sounded quite imaginative and different from many of the same old plots you get with Amish stories. So I decided to go ahead with reviewing it. In a way I wish I hadn't because I hate doing reviews like this, but I also want to let others know what I thought at the same time.

The book itself was not bad. The characters were okay, Betsie was my favorite, but the plot was just okay. My main problem was getting into it. There was one part that was pretty funny with Betsie repairing a pair of pants:)  It moves very slow and there really isn't a lot to it. You pretty much know what is going to happen and who is going to fall in love with who and it makes for a slow book. I am one who likes action and mystery but it doesn't have to be that way, so long as it grabs you and keeps your attention. Sadly I felt this one lacked in that area. I pushed myself to read through it but unless you like this type of novel, I would not pick this one up.
